The Motivational Interviewing training with Amy Walters, PhD, is in 1 week!
Dr. Walters is a professional speaker on behavioral health integration, Motivational Interviewing and psychological factors impacting chronic disease. She received her Ph.D. from Utah State University and has more than 25 years of experience working in clinical and community settings with adult and pediatric populations.

75% of people in Idaho dealing with substance use disorders have no professional support.
That number isn't going to change without more people who know what recovery actually looks like stepping into this work.
EPIC has the funding to make that possible in Southwest Idaho right now, at no cost. But it runs out in just another week, and we still need a few more people to sign up before we can schedule the training.

We've heard a few things come up when people consider becoming a Recovery Coach. Let's clear a few things up:
❌ "I need a degree."
✅ Nope. You need a GED and lived experience.
❌ "My past might disqualify me."
✅ Past legal history doesn't automatically disqualify you. A Behavioral Health Waiver may allow you to still work in this field.
❌ "I can't afford the training."
✅ EPIC is covering the full cost. $0 out of pocket for qualifying individuals in Southwest Idaho.
❌ "I'm not ready."
✅ That's what the training is for.

Every county in Idaho is a designated Mental Health Shortage Area. The state's behavioral health system is currently meeting about 25% of existing treatment needs and recovery coaches are one of the most direct ways to close that gap.
EPIC has funding to train and certify Recovery Coaches in Southwest Idaho at no cost, but that funding runs out soon. We need 10 people signed up to make it happen.

A lot of people in recovery have thought about giving back but aren't sure where to start. Recovery coaching is one of the most direct paths to doing that with no clinical background or degree.
EPIC is working to bring a free certification training to Southwest Idaho so that more people in this region can step into this role. But we need at least 10 people committed before we can schedule anything.
