❤️🖤💚 Juneteenth: Honoring Freedom, Resilience, and Progress
Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, strength, and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation's history.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston and informed enslaved people that they were free. This historic moment became known as Juneteenth and is recognized as America's longest-running celebration of African American freedom.
Juneteenth is more than a historical event—it is an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of equality, justice, education, and opportunity for all. It reminds us that strong communities are built when everyone has access to the resources, healthcare, support, and opportunities needed to thrive.
At HAPS, we believe that healthier communities are stronger communities. As we honor Juneteenth, we also recognize the importance of removing barriers, empowering individuals, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to achieve a better quality of life.
