Looking for a fall evening that’s a little more Kentucky horse country and a lot less ordinary?

Join us at BraveHearts Equine Center on November 8 from 4–6 p.m. for Paint & Sip: Benefit for Horses! 🎨✨

Talented local artist Annika will guide you step-by-step as you create your own 8x10 horse farm painting — no painting experience required! 🖌️

And before we put brush to canvas, you’ll get to take a mini walking tour of the sanctuary, meet some of our rescued draft horses and hear a little about the journeys that brought them here. 🐴💚

With more than 10 years of teaching experience and a lifelong background in classical ballet, Megan’s approach focuses on accessible, functional movement, breath, mobility and creating a meaningful relationship with movement.

Megan teaches yoga at The Studio Georgetown and Lexington Senior Center and is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown College, where she teaches yoga and functional movement. Through Bluegrass Serenity Yoga & Wellness, she offers yoga, yoga therapy and yoga teacher mentorship.

A little something to make their day a little sweeter. 🥹🐴💕

Our horses were VERY happy to enjoy some delicious Mrs. Pastures Cookies for Horses generously donated by one of our kind guests! From the first sniff to the last bite, these gentle giants knew they had scored the good stuff. 🥰

We’re so grateful for every person who thinks of our horses and helps make their lives a little brighter. Every treat, every donation, every visit, every share—it all means so much. ❤️

🐴 ONE WEEK HOME. ❤️

Mark, Amber, Senator and Bulleit. 🏡 It’s been one week since our four newest rescues arrived at BraveHearts, and we’re already seeing little glimpses of the horses they’re becoming. 🥹

After everything they’ve been through, everyone is settling in and looking much more relaxed. They’re getting comfortable, learning that they’re safe, and slowly figuring out this whole “I’m safe” feeling.

And sweet Amber is continuing to get the care she needs. ❤️ Her latest update: she’ll be having that dead tooth pulled. We’re hopeful addressing the tooth will help with some of the infection and swelling she’s been experiencing and give her some relief.

We’ve also got a little yuckiness going around—some coughing and upper respiratory symptoms. Unfortunately, that’s not uncommon after the stress of travel and the conditions many rescue horses come from. We’re keeping a close eye on everyone and are hopeful it passes soon.

This is also exactly why every new arrival is quarantined for 30 days. It gives them time to decompress and receive the care they need while helping protect the rest of our herd from anything they may have brought with them.

One week down. ❤️
A whole lot of healing still ahead.

But they’re SAFE. They’re cared for. And they’re finally getting the chance they deserve.
