Remember...applications received by May 8th for the City of Paris-Municipality new Repair Affair program will be given preference, so get yours in this week.

The City of Paris is launching a new program called Repair Affair to assist low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in the city with minor home repair and improvements.

Repair Affair 2026 will focus on owner-occupied homes in west Paris, specifically those inside the Wednesday CARDS trash service area.

“Repair Affair is a multifaceted program to improve safety and livability for our older and disabled homeowners in Paris,” Planning and Community Development Director Osei Amo-Mensah said. “Depending on volunteer participation, we will select one or more homes for repair during a one-day event this summer.

To qualify for the Repair Affair 2026, applicants must own and live in their home, be of low income, and be over 65 or certified as disabled. Projects will be limited to those that can be completed in one day and do not require a building permit. Each year, a different area of Paris will be selected for the program, and 2026 includes the Wednesday CARDS trash service area of west Paris.

Some project examples include minor flooring, porch, or exterior stair repairs; installation of handrails or grab bars; exterior painting; and lawn cleanup.

Projects requiring a permit or a licensed contractor to complete, such as electrical, roofing, or plumbing, may be considered in addition to the one-day event. In those cases, the Planning and Community Development Department will seek to partner with an appropriate contractor and donors to facilitate those needs.

To determine if you may qualify, visit www.ParisTexas.gov/RepairAffair or stop by the Paris Public Library at 326 South Main to pick up an application. Preference will be given to applications received by May 8.
