PLCS connections continue to grow!

Steve Daniell started the Papio Boys of the 60s and 70s to help classmates reconnect and share memories. The group meets monthly for lunch and welcomes new members... especially former educators!

Last week, Lee Denker had the chance to join the group and hear their stories firsthand.

📍 Join them on the third Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at Brownies Bar & Grill in Papillion.

The Papillion High School Class of 1953 recently celebrated its 73rd class reunion at Summer Kitchen Cafe in La Vista. (Yes, that's 73 years!) The tight knit class originally had 26 seniors.

Now all over 90 years old, the attendees primarily live in the Omaha metro area but one classmate traveled back from Phoenix. Alumni shared stories from their school days, including memories of fielding Papillion’s first competitive football team in 1952. Lee Denker, PLCS Foundation Executive Director, attended as a guest and enjoyed celebrating with the group. They welcomed him as "family" since his dad, Clem Denker, went to school with them but graduated a year ahead with the class of 1952. Everyone shared a special cinnamon roll cake to commemorate the anniversary.

Thank you to the Class of 1953 for continuing to preserve and share such an important part of Papio history.

A special piece of Papio history has found a new home.

Lee Denker, PLCS Foundation Executive Director, recently accepted a vintage Papio jacket from John Ellinger, Class of 1953. John has proudly preserved the jacket since his sophomore year at Papillion High School, keeping it in remarkable condition for the past 76 years.

The jacket will now become part of the PLCS Foundation’s collection of district memorabilia and will be displayed in the new Community Engagement Center when it opens. Thank you, John, for helping preserve and share the rich history of Papillion La Vista Community Schools for future generations.
