Fairview was laid out in 1856, by Rev. C. C. Goss. It had a town site of 160 acres with a post Office established on May 8, 1858. Designed as a potential County Seat, but the town failed to grow and the Post Office closed. The town turned into a precinct, then remained as a farming area. The Fairview Cemetery is still maintained and active.
