Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska, Inc.

Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska, Inc. Our primary purpose is to promote and preserve Polish heritage and culture including Polish immigrant settlement in the Omaha area.

The Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska was incorporated in 1998 under the direction of Barbara Boczar Heywood, the Society's founding president. In addition to informal promotion of Polish culture, the officers and Board of Directors oversee two major annual activities of the Society: the scholarship competition for students of Polish descent to continue studies in Catholic high school, and the annual beer-tasting event featuring Polish food and beverages.

Spring is officially here, bringing with it Poland's ‘National Holiday Season,' which kicks off the warmer months every year with a few much-awaited holidays: May 1 (Labor Day) and May 3 (Constitution Day), collectively known as Majówka (from "Warsaw In Your Pocket").

In between is The Day of the Polish Flag, officially celebrated since 2004 (from "Website of the Republic of Poland").

Time to celebrate our Polish heritage!
