Our mission is to help families that are dealing with hardships. Our goal has been to try and make children and their families smile.

Please welcome the Tran family coming in today.

Meet Sebastian, better known as Sebi! Sebi is a fun-loving, energetic 7-year-old with a contagious smile and a heart full of joy. He is also a childhood brain cancer survivor who has shown incredible strength and courage throughout his journey. He was diagnosed in August of 2022, and has been cancer free since June of 2023. After spending much of his early childhood in and out of the hospital, Sebi is now enjoying being a kid—playing soccer, making friends wherever he goes, and spending time with his family. He loves adventure, having fun, and making everyone around him smile. We’re so excited for Sebi to experience some much-deserved fun and make special memories at the beach!

Yes, I said BUSY!!! Also coming on the 5th. Please welcome the Anglin Family.

Jax was born with an ultra-rare genetic disorder called Floating-Harbor Syndrome (FHS). After seeing his geneticist at 6 months old, he was officially diagnosed at 17 months old and was around the 50th person ever diagnosed in the world. Today, there are still only around 200 known cases! This mutation can affect just about every system in the body. And while Jax doesn’t necessarily look like our family, he looks so much like his brothers and sisters who also have FHS. It’s pretty amazing!

During pregnancy, Jax was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and underwent surgery to correct it at just 11 months old. His surgeon told us that while she knew the surgery was necessary, she wished we could wait because he was only 13 pounds and his heart wasn’t much bigger than a strawberry! He overcame that surgery like a champ!

Jax also has Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, which affects the balls of the femurs and the hip sockets. He was wheelchair-bound and non-weight-bearing for nearly two years while he underwent two surgeries and spent time in an A-frame cast with a bar between his legs. You’d never know it now, though, with the speed at which he runs!

Jax also has developmental, intellectual, and verbal delays. He doesn’t always speak as clearly as he would like, but he can definitely get his point across if someone has trouble understanding him. He works incredibly hard and absolutely loves to learn. He is in the 4th grade and loves his school, teachers, and classmates.

More recently, Jax has fallen in love with acting and being involved in our local theater. Over the past year, he has debuted in his first two plays, and watching his confidence grow has been incredible.

Jax is a 9-year-old who may be smaller than his peers, but his attitude is 6 feet tall and bulletproof! He is full of life and loves music, singing, and Jesus. His favorite musician right now is Michael Jackson—and, of course, Dolly Parton! He’ll give you a little “hee-hee” and finish it off with a “Jolene!”

Jax may have faced more challenges in his nine years than most people face in a lifetime, but he doesn’t let any of them define him. He is funny, determined, loving, resilient, and completely unapologetically Jax. And we couldn’t be more proud of him.

Welcome, the Cannata family! Coming on the 5th. BUSY AND WE LOVE IT!!!

I wanted to introduce our little crew and tell you a little about the kids.

Duckie is our almost 12-year-old son and the reason this trip means so much to our family. He was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, meaning he essentially has half of a functioning heart, and has had three open-heart surgeries, cardiac catheterizations, and a lifetime of specialty care. Along the way, he also experienced two strokes and an intracranial hemorrhage and lives with cerebral palsy, visual and neurological differences, and several neurodevelopmental and learning challenges.

But none of that really tells you who Duckie is. And you will be so surprised to see him in person after reading about him on paper. He looks amazing.

He is funny, curious, incredibly smart, and has a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He has grown up navigating hospitals, therapies, procedures, appointments, and challenges that most kids never have to think about, and somehow he continues to approach life with so much personality and curiosity. He loves experiences where he gets to learn, explore, ask questions, and be part of what is happening rather than simply watching from the sidelines. I have a feeling the dolphin trip and Jet Car are going to be talked about for a VERY long time! He is affectionately known as the "mayor" in some of the organizations due to his personality — he just loves everyone.

His sister, Parker — who we call Birdie — is also coming with us. She is incredibly bright, funny, thoughtful, and a Disney princess in real life. Animals just flock to her, and she LOVES them. She and Duckie are close, and she has grown up alongside all of the realities that come with having a sibling with complex medical needs. Part of what makes this trip so special to me is that it gives both of them an opportunity to just be kids, experience something new together, and make memories that aren't connected to appointments, hospitals, school demands, work, or everyday responsibilities.
