Bees 🐝 are back at the farm! The farm has hosted bee hives for years until the city sprayed and we lost them. Hoping to grow our colonies. Even our bees are rescues. We relocate problematic swarms so they are moved instead of killed. See a low hanging swarm? Feel free to message us to pick them up. If they're not in the way, leave them be and they'll be on their way.

When you work in the animal rescue field, you don't often get to see the best of people (hence the reason most animal rescuers I know prefer the company of animals to people). That being said, every once in a while we are reminded that some people are just absolutely amazing. We met one such couple this past winter and are so excited for the rest of our farm family to meet them too.

If you live in Palm Bay you see the exponential growth. The sound of dump trucks slamming and trees being felled is pretty much the norm now in between the police sirens as we watch developers clear cut all the remaining lots. The farm has tried to save the lots around its borders over the years and our letters and calls were always met with silence or astronomical prices and we watched the trees fall and the foxes and tortoises that blessed our farm each year with babies disappear. When we figured all hope was lost of saving any of them, one family saw the value in our farm and in NOT developing their beautiful, treed lot. A lot that was passed down to them from their grandfather John Trone.

So bring those hooves, paws and wings together for James and Lois Kubitschek. This amazing couple has generously donated their beautiful lot to the farm where the trees will remain up and the wildlife that calls it home will remain safe. It's been harder to have faith in humanity this year in particular, but this couple has truly restored ours. They will be visiting each year and we are beyond excited to add them to our farm family. So thank you James and Lois in seeing past the developer's dollar signs. Your grandfather's lot will forever stay wild with those beautiful trees providing decades of future shelter and shade for all to enjoy.

We would also like to thank Sergio Muniz a local lawyer who helped the sanctuary draft up the legal agreements. Please consider him for future legal advice, he went above and beyond to help us with our unique transaction.

Thank you Heather Fowler for the amazing mural! The farm hosts thousands of Monarch Butterflies and it was fun to watch Heather bring the idea to life to paint them. Be sure to stand and snap pic at your next visit.

Let's give a warm Happiness Horse Farm welcome to our newest additions, Fred and Hazel. Brought to us by an amazing family faced with a tough choice with an upcoming move and a goat who liked to gallivant on I95, they decided a permanent home on the farm was the best decision to keep them safe and they fit right in.

The farm needs to extend a huge horsey shout out to the City of Palm Bay and our city council members. Our farm was drowning both literally and figuratively with these crushing storm water fees. It took a year to get the law and fees changed but the city did it! Instead of owing almost $5,000 this year our new bill is $131. Words can't really express how much this will help our little farm not having to fork over this unnecessary fee each year. Thanks to Mike Jaffe for going above and beyond to help our sanctuary and to encourage me that the city will listen if we show up. To everyone that has shown up for us, thank you from the bottoms of our two and four legged hearts. Thank you Palm Bay for seeing our worth, listening and acting 👏🙌
