Kris Gorman loves nature, and her passion for it presents itself in the art she creates. That art will be the featured artist in the Gathering Artists of Putnam’s next exhibit, “Into the Light,” which opens from 5–7 p.m. Friday at the St. Johns River Center.

Some background on the Featured Artist: Kris Gorman

Kris Gorman grew up in Wray, Colorado where she studied stain glass and painting. She received the Night Owl Art Scholarship and went to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she received her degree in Fine Art and Graphic design. Kris then went to the University of New Mexico where she obtained a Post-BA in Art Education K-12. She taught art in middle school and at the Albuquerque Art Museum.

She has exhibited her jewelry at Panache Gallery, Cherry Creek North, Denver, Co, Davis Art Gallery, Columbia, Mo. 3-D ceiling sculptures, watercolors, and acrylics panels. Also, she exhibited for many years at the Matrix gallery in Albuquerque.

Her work is focused on plant life, landscapes, architecture and animals. She enjoys using different mediums, conquering new techniques and subjects. Kris lives for the meditative properties of creating art to make life a more enjoyable environment in which to inhabit.
