Beech blight aphids (Grylloprociphilus imbricator) are ready to party.

Also known as the "boogie‑woogie aphid," these insects are famous for the way they wiggle when their colony is disturbed. 👀 This unusual behavior is a strategy to help deter potential predators while they feed on American beech trees.

The forecast is looking delightfully fall: sunny skies, cool temperatures and plenty of pumpkin-packed fun waiting at Corn & Pumpkin Weekend at Lake Metroparks Farmpark.

🌸 It’s . Time to share what’s showing up in the parks!

Even though it's now fall, flowers aren't done blooming yet! New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) is still putting on a colorful display in the parks.

Its late-season blooms provide an important source of food for pollinators in the fall, including migrating monarch butterflies.
