Ready, Set, Go! Painesville Safety Town begins Monday, June 8th!

Here we go again for another year of fun, hands-on safety education!

We’ll have many community experts on hand to help teach children entering kindergarten and first grade a variety of important, life-saving safety skills. From traffic and railroad safety to fire prevention and more, it’s going to be an exciting and educational week for all involved.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of our participants, teen aides, volunteers, and community partners who help make Painesville Safety Town such a special experience each year.

Parents and volunteers — feel free to message us with any questions before the start of Safety Town week. See you Monday morning at Maple Elementary School!

As we loaded in our Painesville Safety Town props today, we wanted to take a moment to highlight a special part of our town — and a very special person who inspired it.

Our Little Annie’s Hope Train will once again be riding the rails in our Safety Town, serving as an important visual as young children learn how to safely cross train tracks and what to recognize as they approach the rails. With the many railroad crossings throughout Painesville City, rail safety has always been an important focus for us and a strong motivation behind our efforts to help prevent future tragedies.

This train is especially meaningful because of the person who inspired it. Anne Kline, founder of Little Annie’s Hope Train, was someone who seemed to be everywhere at once — always helping others in any way she could. She believed deeply in our safety program and generously sponsored Painesville Safety Town during its first two years. Anne loved children, loved this community, and truly believed in what we were doing. Our entire service club was inspired by her compassion, generosity, and the example she set for others.

We felt it was only fitting that Train #23 be named in her honor.

In a very real way, Anne Kline’s legacy will continue to help children learn important, life-saving safety skills for years to come. We know she would have wanted it that way.

Here's a reminder that our Painesville Lions continue to regularly fill or replenish three Painesville City pantry locations with food staples, soaps and other hygiene items, feminine care products, and seasonal items.

These outdoor pantries are available 24/7, providing families with support outside of the operating hours of other local food programs.

Pantry Locations we service in Painesville City:
- Painesville Central YMCA – outside main entrance
- American Legion on Chester Street
- Morley Library on Phelps Street

As with all outdoor community pantries, it’s “take what you need, give what you can.” Community members may also restock these boxes at any time — every contribution helps.

We've reached our 1,000 lb goal for plastic film recycling and earned another Trex bench through our recycling efforts!

Every bench we earn is donated to a special place in the community where others can relax and enjoy. This achievement truly belonged to all of us. From local businesses and organizations to residents throughout the area, so many people helped collect and recycle plastic film along the way. You were part of this special effort, and we sincerely thank you!

A new collection has already begun. While the benches are a wonderful reward, that’s not the reason we do this. We do it because caring for our environment matters, and small efforts can make a big difference when a community works together.

If you'd like to join in our efforts, collecting plastic film is easy! Message us to learn what items can be recycled and how you can help with our next collection goal.
