April has been quietly full.

Rows marked. Potatoes tucked into the soil. Herbs beginning to root. Compost returned to the beds—what was scattered, gathered again.

This season holds a steady rhythm—part preparation, part arrival. Nothing loud, but everything underway.

Beyond the rows, kites have been lifting into the spring air. Brief moments of play and attention. A reminder that a farm is also a place of relationship.

Join us in the field! Mark your calendars for:

Not all moments in a season are the same.

Right now is a beginning.

The fields are waking.
Seeds and seedlings are already in the ground. The greenhouse is full!
What looks still… isn’t.

Everything is in motion.

Joining now means stepping into that movement—
from the first greens of spring
through the fullness of summer
week by week.

Our early bird CSA pricing ends today, April 20.

No rush, no pressure—
but there is a right moment.

This is when we begin to know who we’re growing for.

If you’ve been considering it, this is a good time to join.

We’d be glad to grow for you 🌱

Here’s a question that doesn’t get asked enough:

What are your children growing up around?

Not just where they go to school.
Not just what they learn.

But what they touch.
What they pay attention to.
What they come to experience as real, alive, and meaningful.

Join Orkestai Farm Camp

This isn’t just about activities.

It’s about forming a relationship—with land, with their own bodies, and with the living world around them.

From Field to Fire.

Today, participants in Orkestai’s Overwintering Course had a full-circle experience: cooking and eating the corn they helped tend this past summer—now made into food to be shared in community.

We give thanks for the seed, and for the Abenaki people who safeguarded its passage through time. We give thanks for the Land—whose energy stood tall within fruit-bearing stalks—and for the corn plant itself, for holding the season and offering itself.

We give thanks, too, for the kernels of history and wisdom that come down through generations of both human and more-than-human ancestors.

With Michaela’s guidance, we practiced nixtamalization—an ancient way of making flint corn truly edible—then carried it to the fire at the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center. And gratitude to Patrick, whose steady fire skills made the cooking possible.

She’s still standing! Our debris hut built in early 2023 as part of our Overwintering Course. Though she’s missing her leaves, her skeleton is still intact after 3 years! Each winter, Overwintering students hike up the trail to check on her, and feel the echoes of their hard team work each time they re-encounter her there, sheltering a beautiful memory!

As the year closes, we’re reflecting on what it takes to steward the Farm through another full season.
Farming is hard work—and a profound privilege. To tend the soil, witness the harvest, and welcome people back into relationship with land and food is no small thing.
This year was shaped by continuity and quiet preparation—strengthening trust, deepening partnership, and doing the often unseen work that keeps this place accessible and alive.
If you feel called to give before year’s end, your support sustains the soil, our team, and land-based offerings for all.
❄️🌀🙏
Looking ahead to 2026, a new chapter is quietly forming. We’ll share more when it’s ripe!
