In Loving Memory of Carol O'Conor (1925–2026) ❤️

The Child Welfare Guild of Ottawa extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Carol O'Conor, who passed away on October 18 at the remarkable age of 100.

Carol was a longtime member of the Child Welfare Guild and generously gave her time to many organizations throughout the Ottawa community. Her dedication to serving others reflects the spirit of volunteerism upon which our Guild was founded.

We were especially touched to learn that Carol's family has designated the Child Welfare Guild as one of the organizations to receive memorial donations in her honor. What a meaningful way to continue her legacy of caring for others.

We are grateful for Carol's years of service, her connection to our Guild, and her family's thoughtful gesture.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the O'Conor family. May her memory be a blessing. ❤️

We’re once again excited to share that our fall sale raised nearly $8,000 to support organizations serving children in Ottawa!!

A huge thank you to the Ottawa, IL VFW Post 2470 for donating the space to make this possible.

Thank you to Ottawa Township High School District 140 for allowing your students to help with cleanup.

Thank you to Stevenson Transfer Moving & Storage for donating storage and assisting with delivery & pickup

Thank you to TJ Lewis & Associates, Inc. for donating the Penske truck.

Thank you to Lily Pads Too Resale Boutique Ottawa for taking the remaining items.

And thank you to all of our shoppers and volunteers who gave their time to set up, work the sale, and take everything down.

Community involvement is what makes this possible. We’re so grateful for all of you. 🧡

On Friday, September 18, the Child Welfare Guild of Ottawa presented a $16,000 donation to the Starved Rock Regional Center (SRRC) Therapy Center.
The SRRC Therapy Center provides a variety of services and resources for children and families, including early intervention screenings and evaluations, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and developmental therapy. The center also hosts socials and meet-ups for children with autism and Down syndrome.
In addition, SRRC offers a developmental preschool program and provides free resources and educational materials in its lobby for families seeking information, guidance, and support.
The donation from the Child Welfare Guild will help SRRC upgrade sensory equipment, calming tools, and adaptive furnishings for its therapy sensory rooms. These improvements will provide children with more supportive and comfortable spaces during their therapy sessions.
The Child Welfare Guild is a charitable organization that was founded in 1932. The Guild holds two rummage sales each year, with proceeds benefiting local organizations and programs, including Under His Wings, Safe Journeys, the Youth Service Bureau, Camp Tuckabatchee, Opportunity School, the YMCA of Ottawa, Feed His Children, A Servant’s Heart, PADS, Arukah, and many others.
The Child Welfare Guild is grateful for the opportunity to support the important work being done at the Starved Rock Regional Center and to help provide resources that make a difference for local children and families.
