Nov 11 is coming soon: Today I saw a man distributing poppies stop a lady and asked if he could reposition her poppy. While doing so he told that lady she should wear the poppy on their left side; the red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives, the black represents the mourning of those who didn't have their loved ones return home, and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much. The leaf should be positioned at 11 o'clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended. He was worried that younger generations wouldn't understand this and his generation wouldn't be around for much longer to teach them. (copy and paste to share just like I did) 🌹 we must remember those from our current wars too!"
I copied this from someone else. Please do the same to pass this knowledge on to those who don't know the meaning.
Lest we forget..

🇺🇸 **36 YEARS OF SERVICE, SACRIFICE & REMEMBRANCE** 🇺🇸

Today, August 7, we honor the 36th anniversary of **Operation Desert Shield**, which began in 1990 as U.S. forces deployed to defend Saudi Arabia following Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.

We remember and honor the brave men and women of the **U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard** who served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm—and we especially remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

From all of us at **Oswego American Legion Post 675**, thank you to every veteran and service member who answered the call. 🇺🇸

**We remember. We honor. We are grateful.**

🤔 Question and answer honestly…

Do you know what the purpose of the American Legion Auxiliary is? 🇺🇸 Many people have heard the name, but do they really know what we do?
Is it:
❤️ Supporting our veterans?
🎖️ Honoring the sacrifices of our military?
👨‍👩‍👧 Supporting military families?
🇺🇸 Promoting patriotism in our communities?
📚 Helping educate our youth?
