The Chippewa Nation of the Great lakes has Submitted letter of Intent for Federal Recognition to Washington DC. on August 11,2011.
The United Government documented the historical finding and inherent right as a tribal government under congressional records, PL.99-346 as the descendants group.

Our aboriginal territory spans from the mouth of the Thunder Bay River in Alpena to the mouth of the Cayuga River in Cleveland Ohio. to Fort Wayne Indiana.

We are in the process of setting up our Tribal government, Constitution, and working on our membership .

We want to make it clear we are not part of Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Mi.
There are several Saginaw Chippewa and Swan Creek Indians who are not eligible for membership under their tribe's constitution or for reasons unknown to those that are not members.
