Our Hearts are truly breaking for Durham Emergency Communications Center. This is their 4th tragedy that they are now dealing with in less than a week and 2nd beloved member of their communications team that they have lost. Our deepest heartfelt thoughts and prayers are going out to all that are hurting and we hope that in the coming days and weeks that you all can find some sense of peace through all of your pain.
Rest in Peace, Homer.
This photo was taken at the radio shop on the day Homer retired. In true Homer fashion, he spotted one of the “Out of Service” signs we use on PD vehicles and thought it would make the perfect picture—capturing his sense of humor perfectly.
Homer was truly the “Oz” behind the curtain when it came to the radio system. Many of us relied heavily on his incredible knowledge, and I often said he had probably forgotten more about the system than most of us know.
The Durham Emergency Communications Center will truly miss Homer. He will be remembered for his expertise, his willingness to help anyone who needed it, and the laughter he brought around the shop.
Thank you for everything, Homer.
