Welcome To Housing Home Goods Bank, Inc. Bangor, Maine We provide FREE homegoods, furniture & adaptive equipment. In 2024 served 1,807 people from 75+ agencies and we helped over 900 households..

and kept 46.8 TONS of furniture and other useful items from going into the waste stream prematurely. Thanks to OVERWHELMING support from the community, we now help clients from over 60 agencies. We help individuals (including Veterans) and families. In addition to people moving into permanent housing from shelter programs, we help people displaced by housefires and other disasters, people escapin

g domestic violence, immigrants, and people re-entering Society from corrections. Using IRS and Salvation Army resources for a "reverse inventory" we found that from September 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013, Welcome To Housing gave out more than $46,000 worth of household goods to people in need. We gather household goods and cash donations to help fill in the blanks as these individuals work with a caseworker or through local houses of worship to help ensure a successful transition from a shelter to a home of their own. Happy Father's Day in Valhalla. Showing Grandpop as a young man in a family photo from late 1800s, a family photo from the early to mid 1960s and a few more, including me and Grandpop at my 1 year birthday. Grandpop (Christopher) passed a 6 days before my 7th birthday. My Pop, William died just two days after my birthday in 2013. Needless to stay I stopped celebrating my birthday after that.

Pop was in the National Guard in New York at the age of 15. Flying back from out of state they landed in Upstate New York with engine trouble he decided to hop a train back to Brooklyn. He listened to his gut that day. The plane that he was on went down and there were no survivors and he got home in time to answer the phone of the military informing his parents that he was gone.

He later went into the Army Air Corps before it was called the Air Force. Then he trained in Florida to do reconnaissance photography hanging out of a plane and he actually did that over in Korea during the Korean War.

I was fortunate to have a great relationship with both of my parents. My father lived to be 84 my mother lived to be 95. Not a day goes by that I don't think of them... they were a cool couple to hang out with.
