We meet at 7:30 am every Thursday at Duffy’s Tavern & Grill, 168 S**o Ave., Old Orchard Beach ME 04064. Our members are professional and philanthropic contributors to the Biddeford, S**o, Old Orchard Beach communities, who also enjoy having fun. We believe in "Service Above Self" and 4-Way Test:

What a great day of service today for our local Rotary Clubs. Rotarians from all over our district met at the American Legion’s facility in Old Orchard Beach to help with the Crutches 4 Africa event. Over 25+ volunteers helped load a 40 foot shipping container with donated crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, canes etc!! Rotarian Dennis Robillard who leads the effort each year shared that the contents of this container, the 15th he has coordinated, would put the grand total shipped through this program to over 250,000 units!! What an amazing milestone that is life changing to those that are the recipients of the equipment.

The S**o Bay Rotary Club guest speaker this week was Joe Moreshead of Age Friendly S**o who provided an excellent presentation on the history of Age Friendly and how it has grown to become such a vital organization in the S**o Community. Joe shared highlights of many of the current programs such as the monthly community luncheons, the ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) monthly gathering, the medical & convenience van ride program, Handy Neighbors Program that can help with small repairs, CHAT bike rides provided to assisted living facilities, and many more! The S**o Bay Rotary Club welcomed Hannah Whalen and Andrew Deci of Maine Coast Heritage Trust as guest speakers at yesterday’s weekly meeting. A very informative presentation was provided sharing information about the Biddeford Forest Project which is a conservation effort underway to protect 257 acres of forest and open space in Biddeford! The S**o Bay Rotary Club had the pleasure of Rotarian Jeff Slaton as the featured speaker at this morning’s meeting as he shared experiences from his recent 10 day Rotary trip to India! Jeff presented an overview of Rotary in India, a window into his visits to schools, hospitals, and local villages! Very interesting! Great job Jeff!! Rotarian Phil Smith did a fantastic job as Sgt in Arms and with the help of AI put together a very funny presentation featuring several lines of AI generated pictures! Great way to start the day!! Thanks Jeff & Phil!

A team of Rotarians from the S**o Bay Rotary Club enjoyed volunteering at the Bon Appetite Community Meal Program in Biddeford last night! A fun night of service. The club volunteers at Bon Appetite the 3rd Friday of each month helping to serve a free meal to those in need.

The S**o Bay Rotary Club recognized the May Students of the Month at this morning’s weekly meeting. The following students were honored for their contributions to their schools:

Biddeford High School: Ali Kareen, accompanied by teacher, Jon Edstrom, and friends Lucas, Annabelle, and Amelia

Old Orchard Beach High School: Wesley Gallant, accompanied by teacher, Dean Plante, and mom Libbey

Thornton Academy: Sophia Farago Dumsch, accompanied by teacher, Emma Campbell, and mom Lisa.

Each of the students were presented with a certificate and a $50 gift card in partnership with Maine Community Bank.

The S**o Bay Rotary Club invites local organizations to join our weekly meetings and share information about their programs and missions. On April 30th, Ashley Belanger & Danielle Mooers of the Alternative Pathways Center associated with Biddeford High School presented an overview of their program and on May 6th, Alex Gramling provided a presentation about the York County Food Hub (yorkcountyfoodhub.org). Both presentations were very informative and highlighted some of the great work being done in our community.

Congrats to S**o Bay Rotarian Jeff Slaton for winning the first place award $200🥇 for the 2nd Annual Rotary Clubs Chilli Cookoff held at River Winds Farm. 2nd Place award $100 🥈went to Sunset Bay Rotarian Alicia St. Michael! A fun time was had by all! Congrats to the winners and thanks to all that participated!
