The Greenwich Lions Club was pleased to welcome Michelle Brier, Executive Director of BluePath Service Dogs, to our club!

BluePath provides expertly trained service dogs to individuals with autism, helping promote safety, greater independence, and an improved quality of life for individuals and their families.

We’re proud to learn more about the incredible impact BluePath makes and how service dogs can change lives. Thank you, Michelle, for sharing your organization’s mission with our Lions!

👀🦁 Greenwich Lions helping kids see a brighter future!

Today, the Greenwich Lions Club brought our KidSight Pediatric Vision Screening program to The International School at Dundee in Greenwich! ❤️

Using the Spot Vision Screener, our volunteers quickly screened students for potential vision concerns, including:

👓 Nearsightedness
🔎 Farsightedness
👁️ Astigmatism
⚖️ Differences in prescription between the eyes
👀 Eye alignment concerns and potential strabismus
🔬 Other measurements that may indicate a need for further evaluation

The screening takes just seconds and doesn’t require children to read an eye chart. If a potential concern is identified, parents are encouraged to follow up with an eye-care professional for a comprehensive eye examination.

Early detection can help children get the vision care they need to see, learn, and succeed! 📚💙

👀🦁 HELPING KIDS SEE A BRIGHTER FUTURE!

The Greenwich Lions Club was at New Lebanon Elementary School in Greenwich for pediatric vision screening through our KidSight program!

Using the Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener, we can quickly screen children for potential vision problems, including:

👓 Nearsightedness (myopia) — difficulty seeing distant objects
🔎 Farsightedness (hyperopia) — difficulty focusing on nearby objects
👀 Astigmatism — irregular curvature of the eye that can cause blurred vision
👁️ Anisometropia — a significant difference in prescription between the two eyes
🎯 Eye misalignment (gaze deviation) — signs that the eyes may not be properly aligned
💡 Anisocoria — an unusual difference in pupil size

The Spot camera assesses measurements such as refractive error, pupil size, and eye alignment to identify risk factors that may warrant further evaluation by an eye care professional. It is a screening tool, not a diagnostic exam.

Early detection matters! Vision difficulties can affect a child’s learning, classroom participation, and development. Through KidSight, the Greenwich Lions help connect children with the follow-up care they may need to learn, grow, and thrive.

💜 Supporting Survivors. Strengthening Our Community.

Today, the Greenwich Lions Club was honored to welcome Mary Lee Kiernan, CEO of YWCA Greenwich, as our guest speaker.

For many years, the Greenwich Lions have been proud supporters of the Harmony Project at YWCA Greenwich, which provides essential, free services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Behind every service is a person or family who may be facing a difficult and often frightening time. Through crisis intervention, counseling, emergency shelter, advocacy, and prevention education, the Harmony Project helps survivors find safety, support, and a path forward.

We are proud to support YWCA Greenwich and its commitment to ensuring that survivors in our community are not alone and can access the help they need.

Thank you, Mary Lee Kiernan, for sharing the YWCA’s important work with our club and for the continued dedication of your team.

🦁 Greenwich Lions Lunch with Wheel It Forward!

Great lunch and conversation with Edward Spilka, Treasurer of Wheel It Forward.

The Greenwich Lions have been longtime supporters of Wheel It Forward and the incredible work they do for our community—helping people access durable medical equipment while keeping that equipment in use and out of landfills.

Want to make a difference? Donate, volunteer, or help spread the word about Wheel It Forward. Together, we can help more people get the equipment they need while giving valuable resources a second life and keeping them out of the waste stream.
