Our first Kinderwood Outreach adventure of the year! 🌿

Our 4s class hiked Maple Ridge, reconnecting after summer and learning every step of the way. We quietly observed deer in their natural habitat, searched for mushrooms, bugs, slugs and fungus, discovered colorful leaves, trees and rocks, learned the shapes and colors of the trail markers, and ended with a sunny picnic at the top. ☀️🦌🍄

This is what Kinderwood is all about. Learning through exploration, curiosity and the world around us.

Tomorrow, we open our doors for the first day of school — in a new location that, in so many ways, feels like coming home.

While this building may be new to us this year, it’s actually where our story began. This was our founder Mirnie Kashiwa’s original location, where she first opened Kinderwood all those years ago.

What are the odds that after all this time, we would find our way right back to where it all started? We have truly come full circle, and we know Mirnie would be so proud to see what Kinderwood has become and where this next chapter is beginning.

Everything you see in this video — including this entire home and property — has been made possible through the incredible generosity of people who believe in Kinderwood and what it means to our community.

It was a crazy summer squeezing it all in, and we cannot thank our sponsors, donors and volunteers enough for the time, materials, hard work and support that made opening these doors possible.

And we aren’t done yet! There are still a few projects to finish and things we’ll need as we settle into our new space. Nothing like pulling it all together in the final few days! 💛

This team truly came together to make it happen. Yesterday, Kinderwood had one final day of touch-ups, cleaning, organizing, and putting everything into place before officially opening the doors for our Open House!

After so much hard work, so many helping hands, and countless hours from our staff, families, volunteers, and community members, it was incredibly special to finally welcome everyone into our new Kinderwood home.

We are so grateful for every person who helped us get here — and we can’t wait to see all the memories that will be made inside these walls! 🌲🍎

Kinderwood Community Move-In Day!

What an incredible day for Kinderwood! A huge thank you to every volunteer who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and helped us get one step closer to settling into our new home.

Special thanks to Jan Luck O’Connor for bringing lunch for everyone, and to Frances Parent and Blue Line Coffee House for keeping our crew fueled with breakfast!

We’re also so grateful to our amazing board members, teachers, and volunteers who gave their time, energy, and helping hands today: Patrice Murphy, Diane Kull, Sarah Morin, MJ Gagan, Bob and Margaret DiOrio, Kelly Jones, Myan, Gina Whyte, Tamala Vetti, Jessica Bradt, Todd and Laurie Brosemer, Mallory and Dave Kleps, Mike Greene, Kathy Connell, Brian Josephson, Haley Josephson, and Eric Ludovici.

Another project checked off the list at Kinderwood!

A huge thank you to Old Forge Electric for completing the wiring in our new home. We are so grateful for the local businesses and community members helping bring this new space to life.

It feels like a new project is completed every day, bringing us one step closer to opening our doors and welcoming our kiddos into their new Kinderwood home!

A huge thank you to Walt Parent Tree & Excavation Services LLC for removing trees today!

Another project checked off the list and another step closer to the first day of school. The extra sunshine in our backyard is already making such a difference, and we can’t wait to see our kiddos enjoying this bright, open space!
