Today, we recognize and give thanks to the brave men and women who answer the call when others need help the most.
To our firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, law enforcement officers, rescue personnel, 911 operators, and emergency telecommunicators — thank you for your courage, sacrifice, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving others.
You run toward danger when others run away. You bring calm to chaos, hope to difficult situations, and comfort to people on some of the hardest days of their lives. Behind every emergency response is a team of dedicated individuals who put the safety and well-being of others before their own.
As someone who has had the privilege of serving in the fire service, I know firsthand that this calling is more than a job. It is a commitment to community, a bond among brothers and sisters in service, and a promise to be there when people need us most.
To every first responder, past and present, and to the families who support you behind the scenes — thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and everything you do for our communities. You are appreciated today and every day.
