Lucy's Treasure Hunt Glass Float Hide and Seek
Octover 1-31, 2025 In the early 1900s, east coast fishermen used hollow glass balls, or floats, on their nets as markers.

Occasionally, the floats would break loose and wash ashore for lucky beachcombers to find and keep. Collecting these rare, highly sought-after glass floats became a hobby in the 1950s. Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization hand-picked Paul Steinke from Sunset Beach to create one-of-a-kind glass floats for our first Lucy’s Treasure Hunt event. The glass floats are part of a month long

hide-and-seek style game played on OIB. Each day, volunteers called Lucy’s Pirates will hide clear globes around the island for lucky guests to find and redeem for a real glass float. Gather your friends and family to search for globes that can be exchanged for dazzling handcrafted glass floats. Official Tresure Hunt is October 1-31, 2022

Another Lucy’s Treasurs Hunt is complete! Congratulations to all our lucky treasure hunters. All globes have been found but two still need to be turned in to claim a 2025 Float. If you found a globe, please make sure you turn it in by November 15, 2025. After that date unclaimed floats will be available for sale at our Black Friday event. Stay tuned for details!

Let the hunt begin! Lucy's Treasure Hunt has begun on OIB. Please see flyer for details. Each float and ornament is unique in color and or pattern and contain OIB sand melted into the glass. Beginning October 4th, floats can be purchased for $60 and ornaments for $30 by emailing [email protected] shipping fees apply, please email for details.

Calling all Treasure Hunters! Lucy's Treasure Hunt in returning October 1-31, 2025. Lucy's Pirates will begin hiding plastic globes for lucky treasure hunters to find. This clear plastic globes will be hidden in public areas on OIB. Where should you search? The land side of public beach accesses, the Town Center Park, the statue of Lillah with more hunting locations to be announced.

What an amazing turn out for Lucy’s Trasure Hunt. We have a very limited number of ornaments and 2024 Floats. Our artist creates each ornament or float by hand and blends sand from OIB into each one. Ornaments and floats are unique in color and or pattern. The floats are stamped 2024 OIB Seqa Turtles, have OIB sand and are signed by our artist.

We have a very unique large ornament. What makes it unique? A splash of yellow glass not carried by our artist. Who it got there? We are unsure but there will never be an ornament like this one again!

We are raffling this large ornament $5 per ticket and limit of 100 raffle tickets will be sold. Those are great odds! All proceeds benefit the Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization! Stop by or call Surf Unlimited for your chance to win this beautiful ornament. 910-579-1525
