🎬Behind the scenes Brunswick County Homeless Coalition is taking 888 calls, providing food boxes, attending grant meetings, visiting homes, paying unmet bills, mentoring, referring..and the list goes on!

✨Volunteer Spotlight✨

We would like to use this opportunity to highlight one of our many volunteers. We are proud to have Jay Boulter (pictured below) serving with us. He is an extremely hands-on volunteer who goes above and beyond daily to serve those in need.

Jay loads up his truck and delivers street and house boxes all over Brunswick County. In 2025 74 house boxes were delivered. A house box is set up for families that have a kitchen available but limited resources.

In addition, 59 street boxes were delivered. A street box is set up for those who do not have a kitchen and are supplied with ready to eat meals and often camping utensils.

That’s a total of 133 deliveries! The boxes all try to cover the 5 major food groups and 1 street
box can save someone or be equivalent to $60-$80 dollars in groceries.

Not only does Jay deliver boxes, but he also brings blankets, sleeping bags and other necessities when available.

❤️Jay truly delivers from the heart- he is a listening ear and a kind voice of reason when people are struggling and overwhelmed.

Joe Staton (center), President of the Brunswick County Homeless Coalition, receives a check for $4,000 on April 13, 2026 from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Charitable Foundation.

Sheriff Brian M. Chism (left), and Monique Stenquist, Chair of the Brunswick County Sheriff's Charitable Foundation (right), presented the award. Funds raised at the Sheriff's Annual Charity Ball, "Diamonds and Denim," held on March 6, 2026, were used to award grants to BCHC and two other non-profits, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and His Chosen Outreach Ministries.

✨Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation presented $90,000 of assistance to 62 recipients throughout their service area in Brunswick and Columbus counties. As they said during a presentation, “it's not just their service area--it's our community.”

✨Brunswick County Homeless Coalition received a $1,000 grant at the event for utility assistance.

🙏Our sincerest thank you goes out to Brunswick Electric.
