Paws-Ability

Paws-Ability Paws-Ability is a 501c(3) organization dedicated to supporting animal welfare in Brunswick Co., NC BEFORE YOU CALL US, PLEASE NOTE:
We are not a rescue.

We do not take surrendered animals and have no adoption program. If you have an animal that needs to be re-homed, please contact the Brunswick County Animal Protective Services (BCSAPS) at 910-754-8204, or any of our local rescue groups. If you find a stray animal, please call BCSAPS. They will pick up the animal and try to find the owner. If the owner does not recover the animal, they will assess it and place it up for adoption.

BandFest, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is coming on June 7! If you're looking for your next furry family member, we'll have lots of cuddly adoptable animals there to greet (and tempt) you. So far, we have confirmations from 9 local rescues and we hope you'll stop by to visit them all in our Adoption Central area in the center of Sunset Beach Town Park.

Please keep in mind that many of the rescues do not do same-day adoptions. They have adoption procedures that they must adhere to and will likely need an application and time to process them. If you meet the pup or kitty of your dreams they will work with you to get them home to you as quickly as possible.

If you'd like to get a sneak peek of some of the animals available for adoption, you can check out their websites or pages ahead of time. If you have questions about any of the animals you can contact the rescue directly. We do not have any information about available animals or which animals will be at BandFest. Some groups will process an application so that you're approved before you find your perfect fur baby. Everyone works differently so please understand that they're all doing their best for the animals in their care and want to find them their perfect forever homes!

Please remember that current rabies vaccinations are required bylaw in North Carolina!

We saw this educational flyer on a veterinarian group page and would like to share this. For the state of North Carolina, any dog/cat or ferret that is 4 months of age or older, it is required for them to have a current rabies vaccine.

This isn't something we like to talk about, but as pet parents it's something we all have to face at some point. No one wants to have to make the decision to let our beloved pets go, but sometimes it's the kindest thing we can do for them. There are signs that indicate that their quality of life and well-being are such that it may be time to speak with your vet about saying goodbye. Maybe this will help... 💜

We're looking forward to seeing you at our April meeting, set for Tuesday, April 28, at 5:30 p.m. Our meeting place is the Ocean Isle Beach Town Hall, 111 Causeway Drlve, Ocean Isle Beach (on the mainland, just before the bridge).

This month's guest speaker will be Jill Jones. You may know her from her previous work with Adopt an Angel and Fix A Friend. She's also the owner of Adam's Folly, a boarding facility in Bolivia.
