This May, in recognition of Missing Persons Month, we are sharing the stories of those who are still missing because they are not forgotten.

On August 19, 2025, Maria Gonzalaz's son reported his mother missing. Deputies learned that Maria was last seen around 10:30 p.m. at her home located at 4741 NW Gainesville Road in Ocala. They were informed that Maria suffers from several health conditions and was without her medications. During their efforts to locate her, deputies learned that Maria was known to frequent the Interfaith Soup Kitchen and the surrounding areas.

Major Crimes detectives interviewed individuals at the Interfaith Soup Kitchen, who informed them that Maria would sometimes stay in nearby homeless camps. Detectives also learned that Maria was known to use illegal substances and would occasionally go without communication for short periods of time. Extensive searches of the area were conducted, and detectives spoke with individuals at these camps, all of whom stated they had not seen Maria.

Someone knows what happened to Maria, where she went, or may have information that could help detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Even the smallest detail could be significant.

If you have any information regarding Maria's whereabouts, please contact our Major Crimes Unit at 352-732-9111. You may hold the missing piece that helps bring Maria home.

This May, in recognition of Missing Persons Month, we are sharing the stories of those who are still missing because they are not forgotten.

On April 29, 2024, deputies responded to a residence in the 18200 block of SE 22nd Place in Ocklawaha after Kevin Johnson’s mother requested a well-being check on her son. She told deputies that Kevin had come to her home across the street for dinner on April 27, 2024, before returning to his residence. She had not heard from him since and, given his heart-related medical issues, became concerned for his well-being.

Kevin’s residence was owned by his mother, who gave deputies permission to enter and check the home. However, Kevin was not there.

During the investigation, individuals close to Kevin informed detectives that he was known to go into the nearby woods to use illegal substances. Given Kevin’s history of substance use and his medical conditions, MCSO Field Force members conducted an extensive grid search of the wooded areas surrounding his home. Unfortunately, Kevin was not located.

Someone may know where Kevin went, may have seen him in the area, or may have information that could help detectives piece together what happened. Even the smallest detail could be significant.

If you have any information regarding Kevin Johnson’s whereabouts, please contact our Major Crimes Unit at 352-732-9111. You may hold the missing piece that helps bring Kevin home.

This May, in recognition of Missing Persons Month, we are sharing the stories of those who are still missing because they are not forgotten.

On April 24, 2023, David Clark Jr.'s mother reported him missing after not seeing or hearing from him since late February. David was known as a nature lover who often spent extended periods camping and enjoying the outdoors, sometimes without regular communication. However, concern quickly grew when his vehicle was located at the intersection of National Forest Road (NFR) 22 and SE 183rd Avenue Road.

Deputies learned that the U.S. Forest Service had discovered David's vehicle on April 15, 2023, with a flat tire in a restricted area north of NFR 22. A tow notice had been placed on the vehicle. Deputies responded and located a campsite believed to belong to David. An extensive search of the surrounding woods near the Forest Lake Park community led to the discovery of a second campsite connected to him.

Someone may know where David went, may have seen him in the area, or may have information that could help detectives piece together what happened. Even the smallest detail could be significant.

If you have any information regarding David Clark Jr.'s whereabouts, please contact our Major Crimes Unit at 352-732-9111. You may hold the missing piece that helps bring David home.
