🌊 Happy World Oceans Day!

It’s easy to think of the shore as just a place to spend a summer day, but South Jersey’s coastline is also home to countless species that depend on healthy beaches and coastal waters.

As you enjoy the shore this summer, consider taking a few simple steps to help protect it: stay off the dunes, carry out what you bring in, give wildlife plenty of space, and leave shells, plants, and natural habitats as you found them.

Small actions add up, and they help keep our coast healthy for the wildlife and people that depend on it.

🌳 Presenter Spotlight: Incredible Edible Merchantville 🍁

We're excited to welcome Incredible Edible Merchantville as a featured presenter at our upcoming South Jersey's Living Urban Forest community meetup.

Through the Merchantville Maple Project and their partnership with Stockton University, they're helping residents discover the environmental, educational, and economic potential of maple syrup production right here in South Jersey. From tree tapping demonstrations to community workshops, their work highlights the many ways trees contribute to local sustainability and community connection.

Join us to learn how trees support food systems, climate resilience, biodiversity, and neighborhood identity throughout South Jersey.

🐝Happy World Bee Day 🐝

World Bee Day, celebrated each year on May 20, began as a global reminder of how important bees and other pollinators are to food, ecosystems, and biodiversity.

Here in South Jersey, it’s also a chance to look closer at the pollinators already working in our yards, gardens, farms, and wild spaces.

With a few small choices, we can make more room for them to return, nest, and thrive.

We spent an afternoon in Wenonah getting our hands dirty alongside the team at Veranova, helping maintain the Wenonah Lake Trail and care for one of South Jersey’s treasured natural spaces.

We also gathered at Veranova’s West Deptford office to host a Lunch & Learn, sharing practical insights on sustainability and sparking conversations about how small, everyday choices can add up to meaningful impact.

This is what Earth Month looks like to us: community, action, and learning from one another.
