Celebrating 180 Years —

Serving God/Serving Community
It is with excitement that Clair United Methodist Church (“CUMC”) announces celebrating 180 years of Serving God and Serving Community! Our records indicate that as early as 1

820 there were Methodists in the Jersey City area, and they were holding meetings in their homes. Since those early beginnings, our church has experienced changes in name and location. God empowered them to take the leap of faith for a new church start. What a blessed way to carry out our mission of serving God and community by assisting a community of faith to stand on their own! We serve the elderly in our community by providing the space for the construction of the beautiful living quarters of Covenant Communities, Inc. (Manor United Methodist Homes). Located next to the church and parsonage, groundbreaking for Covenant Manor took place on December 14, 1997 and ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held on February 11, 1999. We have fed the hungry with our Free Meals ministry and provide a home for the STARFISH Food Pantry. We have nurtured the children in our community with our Sunday School program and our Faith Exploration Series. The church also houses the Little Hearts preschool which serves the needs of families in our local community. Our Nonprofit welcomes diverse faith communities throughout the New Jersey and Pennsylvania region. Our honor roll of spiritual leaders has delivered the Good News with fervor and compassion. Change Ministries, Inc. has continually demonstrated it’s commitment to serving the Source of our Spirituality and community. is currently involved with several projects which hold fast to it’s 501(c)3 community mission.
