Action Sertoma is a NFP 501(c)(3) organization chartered on November 11, 1967 as a club to raise funds in support of "SERvice TO MAnkind." In 1971, Action Sertoma (originally chartered as Alsip Sertoma) was instrumental along with the Evergreen and POW-R Sertoma Clubs in establishing the Sertoma Centre now Sertoma Star Services. Sertoma Star provides services for individuals with developmental, ph
ysical and emotional disabilities, and mental illness. These services include vocational evaluation, developmental training, community-based assessments, senior programming, work adjustment training, residential services, janitorial skill training, foster care, job placement services, supported employment, specialized services, school transition services, psychosocial rehabilitation, autism services, and a sheltered workshop program. In addition to supporting Sertoma Star and Sertoma Speech and Hearing Center, we donate to many local charitable organizations that provide important social services in the Chicagoland area such as Crisis Center of South Suburbia, Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, Filling the Gap, Together We Cope, Pathlights, JDRF, Navaro Farm, Open Access, Operation Breakthrough, Project Fire Buddies, RESPOND Now, Second Sense, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Suburban Access, Toys for Tots and much more.
