Things are heating up in Lansing! We had a great time at our annual Legislative Reception at Grewal Hall last night. The energy was terrific!

A special thank you goes out to all the legislators and staffers who made the short trip down from the Capitol to meet, greet and discuss the future of Michigan's creative economy. We are excited to work together to get commonsense, pro-jobs legislation on the books.

Kudos to our all-volunteer board for putting this event together. They are true testament to the enthusiasm and ingenuity of our industry and helped make this a night to remember for all involved.

The multimedia industry is where dreaming meets doing. It attracts professionals whose creativity is matched only by their drive and who won't let long odds and longer hours get in the way of achieving their goals. This energy is what powers MiFIA. We're lucky to have so many talented board members volunteering for our mission.

We're excited to introduce you to a new addition: Anthony Bommarito!

Anthony spends 75% of his time in the commercial production world as Executive Producer and part owner of First Fight Creative Studio in Detroit. He spends his remaining time as an independent producer and director. He has produced two feature films in Michigan over the past four years, and on the commercial side he has worked with clients such as Ford, Shinola, StockX, Rocket Mortgage and GM, winning multiple Emmys.

Anthony joined the MiFIA board because he believes that storytelling is the core of all human interaction, and he wants to ensure that Michigan is a place where this industry and the people who make it go can flourish.

Happy to have you on the team, Anthony!

From Music City to "Movie City?" — Nashville is one of many production hotspots that have seen a major influx of economic activity thanks to robust creative incentives.

A recent article in the USA Today Network notes that, as of 2026, the film industry is generating around $365 million in state tax revenues and $6.4 billion (!) in entertainment sector GDP.

As one of just a small handful of states without competitive incentives, Michigan is leaving an economic bonanza on the table. It's time for the Great Lakes State to get rolling.
