💔 It's official. Today marks TWO YEARS that Mazey has been in foster care. 💔
Mazey's foster wrote her a very special letter. ❤️
We ask that you please take a few moments out of your day to read it. It's a heartfelt reminder of the love, dedication, and hope that goes into fostering, especially when the days turn into months and the months turn into years.
"Dear Mazey,
Two years ago today, you came into my life. I had no idea then just how much joy, laughter, and love you would bring with you.
For two whole years, I’ve had the privilege of loving you, watching you grow, and getting to know every little thing that makes you you.
Your happy little tip taps when you get excited. The way your whole body seems to radiate joy. Your love of snuggling and napping, preferably as close to someone as possible. The way you enthusiastically flop onto your back, making it very clear that belly rubs are not optional. Your sweetness, your silliness, and the way you find happiness in the simplest things.
And oh, how you love people. Every single person you meet is a potential new best friend, and you greet them with the same enthusiasm and love that you give to everyone lucky enough to know you.
I’ll never forget taking you to a Detroit Tigers game, where you met thousands of people. You soaked up every bit of attention, every pet, every kind word, and every ounce of love that came your way. And you gave that love right back, just like you always do. I hope that for that one day, you believed all those thousands of people had come just to see you. Because in my eyes, you were the star of the whole stadium.
I don’t know why your forever family hasn’t found you yet. I don’t know how someone hasn’t looked into those beautiful eyes and realized what an incredible gift you would be in their life. I wish I had an answer for why you’ve had to wait so long.
But here’s what I hope you know.
You are not waiting to be loved. You already are.
You are family. You have been for a long time. You are celebrated, spoiled, cherished, and loved more than you could ever understand. And while I still hope that somewhere out there is the family who will give you the forever home you deserve, I promise that until they find you, you will never have to wonder what it feels like to belong.
Thank you for two years of happiness. For every snuggle, every belly rub, every excited tip tap, and every moment you’ve made an ordinary day a little brighter.
Thank you for trusting me, for loving me, and for reminding me how much joy can be found in the smallest moments.
I wish the world could see you the way I do. Because if they could, I know you wouldn’t still be waiting.
