Some dogs come into your life temporarily… and some make it absolutely impossible to ever imagine letting them go.
For a girl who has been through so much, this foster fail means a little bit more. Muffin came to us with significant medical needs, and as we’ve learned more about everything her little body is facing, one thing became very clear. She deserves to spend every single one of her remaining days surrounded by the people she already knows and loves.
Muffin is mostly deaf, has neurological issues that cause her to wobble, an enlarged heart, and cancerous masses. Recently, we learned she is also facing hip dysplasia, ACL tears in both knees, and arthritis in her lower back. Despite everything stacked against her, Muffin continues to be the sweetest, happiest, most lovable little soul.
And somewhere along the way, "foster dog" simply became family. One of our own Underdog team members, Cailin, and her husband, have been fostering Muffin and loving her through it all. When it came down to it, they just couldn't imagine letting her go. So instead of continuing to search for Muffin's hospice home, they realized she had already found it.
Muffin will spend however much time she has left surrounded by everything she deserves. Cozy beds, endless love, lots of spoiling, and a family that absolutely adores her.
Sometimes fostering saves a dog.
And sometimes that foster dog becomes the one you simply can't let go.
Muffin, you are finally home. Forever. 🥹🏡💕
