International Experience - USA iE-USA is a non-profit high school exchange organization. Learn, share, grow — with iE!

At iE-USA, we are dedicated to facilitating life-changing experiences for international students and U.S. families and communities by helping them make meaningful connections and explore the differences that define us as well as the similarities that unite us. We believe that learning about other cultures, languages and customs is the best way to dispel prejudice and bring people of the world closer together.

Meet our 2025-26 iE-USA Student Recognition Award Winners! 🌟

Dozens of students were nominated by their local coordinators and host parents, who shared things like . . .

"[Juan] has new family members for life, and he is going to be an Uncle this fall because his older host brother is having a son!"

"Future IE students will benefit from the goodwill Marco has created."

"[Yvonne] represented her home country with grace and left her host school better than she found it."

"Jorge leaves our home this summer as our third child – full stop."

"Lilly surpassed all expectations as a family member who truly felt meant to be part of our lives."

😭😭😭

Congratulations to our winners and nominees - we're SO proud of our students for not only representing their home countries and our organization well, but for leaving a positive impact on their host families and communities that will FAR outlast their time in the U.S.

2025-26 students, you will be missed! ❤️ Check out the full blog post here: https://ie-usa.org/blog/students/student-recognition-awards/

We hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend! This day serves as a reminder that the American spirit is rooted in courage, connection, service, and community. ❤️🤍💙

Every year, our host families embody that spirit by opening their homes and hearts to students from around the world – sharing traditions, creating lifelong bonds, and giving students a firsthand experience of life in the United States.

In between the hamburgers, hot dogs, and long weekend celebrations, we hope you had the opportunity to share with your students the cultural significance of Memorial Day. Thanks to those who gave their lives in service to their country, we have the opportunity to connect with and learn from cultures around the world. 🇺🇸✨

Days like these are a reminder that the exchange experience goes far beyond the classroom. Such fun memories spent seeing more of the world around you – together. 🌎

How sweet is this moment 😭

For students like Caja from Germany, getting the news that a host family has chosen them is more than just a step in the student exchange process. It’s the moment when their next adventure starts to feel a little more real.

Now, instead of just dreaming about a future where they’ll build independence and be immersed in U.S. culture, they can begin to picture late-night ice cream runs, afternoon soccer practices, and dinners around the table with an American volunteer host family who wants them to be a chosen part of their family.

We love getting to play a small part in connecting our incredible students with the volunteer hosts who truly become their family. ❤️

Sometimes, the perfect host family-student connection clicks . . . and when that happens, it’s MAGIC! ✨

Chanya from Thailand and the Kanagy Family have proven to be one of those perfect matches this school year. Since she arrived in the U.S., Chanya has jumped feet first into all that the exchange experience has to offer, from extracurriculars to new international friendships to over 20 hours of volunteer work. Throughout the year, she’s been a source of pure joy and positivity for many in her host community, from teachers to coaches to her host parents, Jenny and Philip.

We’re so proud of our students for making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we’re SO grateful to amazing host families like the Kanagys who make it all possible! 🫶

Spring Break isn’t just about where you go . . . it’s about who you share it with. ✈️

This year, the Miner Family brought Gaia 🇮🇹 and Violeta 🇪🇸 along for a multi-stop adventure to some of the most iconic U.S. destinations: Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Los Angeles (yes, including a Warner Bros. Studios tour 🤩).

Getting to experience your home country alongside an international student is one of the most special parts of hosting. And the best part? You don’t need a plane ticket to discover a whole new perspective.
