I am finally starting to “unwind” after last week’s Summer Camp at Cracker Box Palace. I know all of my volunteers are feeling the same way - tired, but proud of what we accomplished. Again, I am beyond thankful of all of our volunteers - 35 different ones over the week! 😱

I wanted to share some of the heartwarming reflections that we received from parents. Sixteen out of the 17 parents who submitted feedback, ranked “Overall, how satisfied were you with your child’s farm camp experience?” as a “5” on a scale of 1-5, “5” of course, being the highest. One parent gave us a four. All of the parents would recommend our camp to other families. Below is a list of the farm camp activities parents shared that their child(ren) enjoyed the most:

That pretty much “sums up” our Summer Camp - a great mix of fun for kids. If you are interested in signing up next year, we will again be targeting the end of the summer (late August) so our camp doesn’t conflict with the Sodus Rec Program. 🥰 🐐 🐎 🐖 🐓 🐄 🐇 🫏 🦆 🐈

Mary Therese and Kent recently attended the Alasa Farms Jubilee for Cracker Box Palace at Historic Alasa Farm. They are seen here supporting the event and hamming it up in the photo booth!

The Mary Therese Friel Modeling Agency has been a supporter of this amazing organization for many years. Models from the agency often participate in fun photo shoots and fashion shows, to support the amazing animals and attractions at the farm.

Today was the final day of Summer Camp 2026 at Cracker Box Palace - swimming, face painting, “Walter the Balloon Guy”, rock painting, outdoor games and an awesome boat ride on the Rose Lummis. A special THANK YOU to all of my incredible volunteers and summer campers. I would also like to recognize Nan McCoy from “Save Our Sodus”, Kim Younglove from Oak Park Marina and our VOLUNTEER life guards - Darcy Davidson, Tracy Mares, Julie Costello and Brenda Neal. Nan was instrumental in planning our “finale” and the lunch buffet at Oak Park Marina was outstanding - cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, homemade chips and a tasty pasta salad. My volunteers totally appreciated all of the accommodations and the pool definitely was a highlight for our kids. 🥰 If your child (or grandchild) attended our Summer Camp, please provide feedback on social media. Let the world know how special this camp is for area youth and teenagers who volunteer. I am so proud of all the planning and time commitment it requires of our staff and, of course, the $ raised to support the animals of the farm. Looking forward to Summer Camp 2027 next year with the most amazing friends in the world. 🥰

Day 4 at Cracker Box Palace Summer Camp was, one again, an AMAZING experience for both volunteers and campers. Tomorrow we are looking forward to our finale - outdoor games, face painting, “Walter the Ballon Guy”, dancing with Riley, highlighted by a ride on the Rose Lummis and swimming at the pool at Oak Park Marina. We are so very thankful of all of our volunteers, Save Our Sodus, and the Oak Park Marina for creating priceless memories for our “campers”. 🥰

Day 3 of Summer Camp at Cracker Box Palace was a HUGE success - thanks again to the amazing volunteers who make it happen. Words cannot express how thankful I am of Karen Toor, Darcy Davidson, Kim Ludden, Patty Paprocki, Kathy VanAcker, Chris Gedney, Alysha Peets, Emma Coomber, Riley Kephart, Joan Zerbe, Colleen Harcourt Sheahen, Ginger Knapp, Stephanie Scott, Dave VanAcker, Beth Ares, Leesa Latulipe, Tom Kolankiewicz (Trail Works), Rose Young, Lucy Humphrey and the Steady Work Employees who created fun memories with the mini horses. I hope I didn’t forget anyone, but as you can see, it is an extensive list of amazing volunteers. I am also very thankful of the parents of the 36 children attending farm camp and the awesome friends who donated supplies. We were able to raise over $8,000 to support the animals of the farm. This warms my heart beyond belief. Can’t wait for Day 4!🥰

I am also very thankful of the parents of the 36 children attending camp mom and the awesome friends who donated supplies. We were able to raise over $8,000 to support the animals of the farm.
