Wayne Action for Racial Equality

Wayne Action for Racial Equality WARE are people from Wayne County who are dedicated to racial equality. Our group believes that the process of change is as important as the product.

We look to the future with a shared vision that avoids looking to the past in a blaming and/or divisive way. We believe that no one is born a racist, that racism hurts everyone and that racism is a by-product of misinformation which we all have received and now need to confront.

Thank you to Alicia Linzy and Wayne County Council for the Arts, Inc. for agreeing to host our meeting and partnering with the group and I on many projects for our WARE groups and our community.

I could tell you story after story about each person at this table and things they have done for our communities. This is what it looks like when a beautiful group of people, with heart, work to uplift the community and do things differently than before - including and working for ALL of us.

We rejoice for Dolores and her family as she is released! We pray that she will be able to make a clean break from the immigration system as it continues to make moves today and her lawyers and supporters work for her overall freedom!

The immigration system truly is broken when someone who has come here legally, has followed every rule, and is such a glowing example of such a great citizen and neighbor is not efficiently given citizenship here in 20 years!

America would be LUCKY to have her here for 20 MORE years, then 20 more !!

We rejoice, pray, and continue to advocate for our beautiful friend, Dolores as she is free but not out of the woods as she meets with ICE this morning and continues to fight her case.

HOME IS HERE!! KEEP DOLORES HOME !!πŸ¦‹πŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ’œπŸ’ͺπŸ¦‹

Berkeley Breen From news channel 10 has been compiling immigration detention information for our area since Dolores’ detention. He estimates ~600 people have been detained in the Fingerlakes since Trump has taken office.

In Monroe county the immigration detainment has jumped 1,500% under Trump (24 people detained under Biden to 393 people detained under Trump). The great majority of people detained have no prior records or criminal matters pending.

Some of the detainees are children.

Up until the beginning of 2025, ICE detained 24 people in Monroe County. Since then, that number has spiked to 393. But which of them are violent criminals, or even adults?

A decision on whether to release detained Wayne County farmworker Dolores Bustamante should be made in the next 24 to 48 hours, a federal judge said Tuesday afternoon. Link to story in comments. πŸ”—β¬‡οΈ
