We love this photograph of Janet and Dick Witherspoon from our digital archives. It captures something of the warmth and kindness that Janet brought to our community, and we are so grateful to have it as we remember her.
The North Haven Historical Society is deeply saddened by Janet’s passing this Summer. Janet, Dick, and their family have been wonderful supporters of the Historical Society for many years, dating back to our founding. Janet and Dick have continued to help at the museum in any way they could, no matter how big or small the task.
Janet had a wonderful memory and was a gifted storyteller. We love stories at the Historical Society, and Janet had a special way of bringing North Haven’s history and people to life. Her kindness was abundant, and her generosity and willingness to help meant so much to us.
Janet will be greatly missed. I like to think that her energy is still all around us and can be felt within the walls of our museum, a place she helped make so special.
The North Haven Historical Society Archives will be closed on Monday, October 26th, for Janet’s Celebration of Life.
Janet, thank you for your kindness, your stories, friendship and all the ways you helped preserve North Haven’s history. You will always be a part of it. ❤️
