Family Pathways

Family Pathways Serving our Communities through Aging Services, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services and Food Access Services

Family Pathways was established in 1978 as a 501(c)3 grassroots community organization in Chisago County, providing counseling services to youth and families. Today Family Pathways is a leading human service organization providing a person-centered response to social determinants that affect the health and well-being of residents across east-central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A deep-rooted h

istory in the community and direct service expertise in multiple program areas, including access to healthy food, domestic violence, sexual assault intervention, and supportive services for older adults- makes Family Pathways unique. Family Pathways’ mission is to work alongside people to enhance lives through a continuum of essential services and, together with the community, champion positive social change. Together with volunteers, donors, partners, and the community at large, neighbors can access stability and hope - contributing to the overall vitality of the region. Programming includes Food Equity and Access Services comprised of nine food shelves and a mobile food truck; Parenting Time Services assuring children have safe contact with family members as they navigate challenging times and transitions. Aging Services engage our aging population through companionship, advocacy, education, and caregiver support. At the same time, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services provide comprehensive assistance to victims of family violence and sexual assault. Each of these programs is supported, in part, through the Family Pathways social enterprise model, which consists of ten thrift stores and a recycling center.

You may know us for our thrift stores—but did you know that every purchase and donation helps fund our nonprofit services?

When you shop for gently used treasures or donate items you no longer need, you're doing more than giving them a second life. You're helping support our community through:

- Food Access Services - Food Shelves, Doorstep Delivery and Backpack Programs.
- Aging Services - Homemaking, and Educational classes
- Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services - Advocacy, Legal Aid, Support Groups, and Emergency Shelter.

Every donation. Every purchase. Every visit makes a difference.

Thank you for shopping with purpose and helping us strengthen our community.

We’re proud to share that City Center Market donated $4,546.94 to Family Pathways in Cambridge through unclaimed owner patronage dividends. 💚

Patronage dividends are a portion of a co-op’s earnings that can be returned to owners based on how much they shopped during the year. When they go unclaimed, we donate those funds to a local organization doing good work in our community. This year, Family Pathways Food Shelf in Cambridge was selected to receive this donation.

Family Pathways plays an important role in our community by helping provide reliable food access and essential services to local individuals and families. We’re honored to support the work they do every day to address food insecurity and strengthen our community!

During the month of May, Family Pathways recognized Mental Health Awareness Month with a “Chalk It Up” initiative across our locations. Staff created encouraging messages and colorful sidewalk art to inspire everyone who visited our stores and programs. The goal was to encourage staff, clients, and shoppers to pause, breathe, and remember the importance of honoring their mental health.
