🏕️🔥 Troop 87 Backyard Campout! ⚜️

Troop 87 Scouts enjoyed a backyard campout while working hard to complete those last-minute requirements before the upcoming Court of Honor! ⛺

Scouting is all about learning by doing, and this campout gave our Scouts a great opportunity to practice their skills, work toward their advancement goals, and support one another along the way.

From camping out to checking off those final requirements, our Scouts are putting in the effort and getting ready to celebrate their accomplishments! 🏅

Thank you Mrs Orn and Mrs Chin for organizing and hosting such a fun time!

Way to go, Troop 87! We look forward to recognizing all your hard work at the Court of Honor! 👏⚜️

🍂🧹 Troop 87 Gives Back: Patriots Park Fall Cleanup! 🍁⚜️

Our Scouts rolled up their sleeves and got to work helping clean up Patriots Park as part of our fall service project!

Service projects like these are a great way for our Scouts to give back to the community, take pride in our local spaces, and put the Scout Oath and Scout Law into action. 💚

A big THANK YOU to all the Scouts and volunteers who came out and helped make a difference! Your hard work and community spirit are what Scouting is all about!

Looking for a great way to support local Scouting? Bring your returnable bottles and cans to Troop 87’s Bottle & Can Drive this Saturday!

No bottles or cans to donate? No problem, we also would appreciate any donations!!!

🛶 Troop 87 Hits the Water! 🌊

Yesterday, Troop 87 enjoyed a beautiful day out on the water in Ipswich for a day canoe trip! Our Scouts had a great time paddling, exploring, working together, and enjoying the outdoors.

Trips like this are a great opportunity for our Scouts to build teamwork, confidence, and leadership skills while making memories and having fun with their fellow Scouts.

A big thank you to our Scout leaders and parent volunteers who helped make the day possible. We appreciate everyone who gave their time and energy to support our Scouts!

What a great day to be a Scout! ⚜️🛶

North Andover Scouts would like to invite you to follow the journey of a very important U.S. Flag this week. The U.S. Flag is a living symbol of our nation. This particular flag measures 6’ x 10’, and carries a special meaning to our community in remembrance of those lost on September 11, 2001, and the Global War On Terror.

The scouts first raised this flag during North Andover Public SchoolsOpening Day last week at the invitation of Superintendent Lathrop, bringing a message of unity, respect, and service.

The flag’s next stop was at Stevens Pond for the troop’s Opening Campfire, an event where the scouts ceremoniously kick off a new season and meet new scouts. Thank you, North Andover Youth and Recreation Services for hosting us!

Today, on the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, the flag will be flown at Patriots Memorial Park during the North Andover VFW Post 2104 dedication ceremony of the new Late 20th Century Conflicts and the Global War On Terror Memorial. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m., and all are invited to attend.

Immediately after the ceremony, the scouts will pack up the flag and head to the White Mountains to participate in Flags on the 48, an event running since 2002 to raise a U.S. Flag on all 48 mountains in NH over 4,000 feet. This year, North Andover Troop 87 is the lead coordinator for Mount Lafayette (5,249’). If you are on Franconia ridgeline on Saturday from 12- 2 p.m., you’ll see our flag flying atop a 20’ pole, and you’ll hear our bugler playing Taps. We’ll keep this post updated with photos of their epic journey, including a first-hand view of the Twin Towers' lights on Mount Washington.

This year is also the 50th anniversary of Troop 87. I’m posting this message to this group because so many of you are current and former members of our troop, or other past troops in town. And many more support Scouting at town patriotic events, service projects, and our famous Bottle Drive fundraisers (bring redeemable cans and worn flags on Sept 26th at the NA Middle School, 9-12).

Scouting is an important part of our community and helps develop values, skills, and leadership in our youth. Thank you for continuing to support the North Andover Scouting Program, especially the Trinitarian Congregational Church for sponsoring our units!
