There was a great turnout for the Fall Cleanup at Patriots Memorial Park last Saturday. Scouts, veterans, neighbors, the North Andover Improvement Society and the North Andover Garden Club all pitched in. Thanks for your help!

Join us and other organizations in town to help tidy up and mulch Patriots Memorial Park this Saturday, October 24th from 9 - 11 am. We will be working on the park’s shrub beds behind the library from Main Street to Greene Street, or as far as the mulch will go, to prepare for the Veteran's Day events. Bring rakes, paper leaf bags, tarps, trugs, shovel and/or pitchfork for mulching, wheelbarrow, pruning, w**ding tools, water, gloves, and hat. The park looked great for the September 11 anniversary ceremony, let's w**d and mulch to keep it that way! Patriots Memorial Park is at 345 Main Street near the Stevens Memorial Library.

Looking for a native fall plant with great foliage color? This high bush blueberry plant, photo taken in a member's yard, is a great replacement for the invasive burning bush (Euonymus alatus, also known as winged euonymus).

Recently a club member held a gourd workshop for our members. We were shown how to create wonderful decorated gourds using plant material from our yards. Everyone was able to make a beautiful fall decoration for their home.

Join us for "FallScaping with Jana Milbocker," tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13th. Add beauty to your garden in the sweet, golden days of autumn with flowers, shrubs, trees, and vines that shine during this season. Discover plants with colorful blooms, rich foliage, and dramatic seed heads. You will learn strategies that will guide you in designing a vibrant fall garden. The program will take place at First Calvary Baptist Church, 586 Mass. Ave., North Andover. Join us at 6:30 pm for social time and refreshments; lecture will start at 7 pm. Last weekend, 9 members of the North Andover Garden Club were part of the town-wide clean-up along the shore at Lake Cochichewick. Our club cleaned the area from Rea’s Pond to the end of Bonny Lane. We all felt very proud to be a part of keeping the lake, North Andover’s primary source of drinking water, pristine & beautiful!
