A little late post: This past few weeks have been a whirlwind of travel, hotels, airplanes, cars which means being away from home, from my family, but through the days of travel, there is ministry and there are people that make things worth it. Last weekend I spent a few days with my good friends from Southern Union at their Deeply Rooted Pathfinder Camporee… this was my 4th Union Camporee this year (Atlantic in May, Lake in late September, Southwestern in early October and Southern). I will share a report later on Union camporees as a whole later, but every one of them is special. From the pathfinders and families that make the sacrifice and effort to be there, to the youth leaders at the PF clubs, to the Conference and Unión teams that make things work, it’s all a well oiled machine (some hiccups along the way sometimes) that creates a space and atmosphere for Pathfinders to gather and to experience community, but in the end, for PF to encounter Jesus! This past weekend, my friends Greg and Kim Taylor led exceptionally well the biggest Union Camporee (8K more or less) at Camp Kulaqua. The preparation and planning, the stress and coordination was worth it. God showed up through everything… there were 106 baptisms, plus many more decisions for baptism for later.. the Spirit was moving through the participants, through the preacher, my friend MyRon Edmonds and the Spirit of Pathfindering was demonstrated in every aspect of the Camporee. We celebrated Kim Taylor’s commissioning and the event ended with good vibes!! This only happens when people are committed to Jesus and are committed to bringing young people to the feet of Jesus… it was such a good recap of the Union camporees this year…
