“Camp Cocoon was great! I made friends who are like me, and my counselor loved me!” – Micah, age 7

Camp Cocoon helps children who have lost a loved one … at little or no cost to their families. This GivingTuesday will you help a child process their grief in a positive, supportive (and fun!) environment with peers who understand loss?

$25 will purchase 50 postcards to spread awareness about Camp Cocoon to people who work with vulnerable children.

Give on (or before) Dec. 1 at: https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E357915&id=7

Congratulations to Rickell, winner of the 2026-2027 PruittCares Coy Williamson Scholarship!

As a lifelong basketball and softball player, Rickell learned quickly about the pain and setbacks that are caused by injuries. Throughout high school and college, she required four reconstructive knee surgeries. Rickell developed a curiosity about exercises that could help the body heal, and she credits her athletic trainer with not only guiding her through recovery but also transforming her curiosity into a desire to help others through physical therapy.

When Rickell’s grandmother had emergency hip surgery, Rickell saw another side of physical therapy as she helped care for her grandmother. After getting her doctorate in physical therapy, Rickell hopes to help athletes and older adults regain independence, strength, and confidence.

Victor’s* wife suffered from declining health and was in and out of the hospital throughout the year before she passed away in the summer. Victor found himself left as a grieving widower and a single father of three teenagers with no savings.

Thanks to your generosity, a PruittCares grant helped pay for his wife’s final expenses so Victor could focus on his family at this difficult time.

WHY I GIVE:

“I give to the PruittCares Foundation because it provides meaningful support to members of the PruittHealth family during difficult times. The PruittCares Challenge gives PruittHealth facilities the opportunity to show their creativity while raising funds for the PruittCares Foundation.

PruittHealth Hospice - Blue Ridge in Georgia uses the Challenge to raise most of the money necessary to run a one-day bereavement camp in Blue Ridge. Camp Cocoon - Blue Ridge is funded through partnerships with local businesses who agree to make donations as camp sponsors.

Thank you to the entire team at PruittHealth Hospice - Blue Ridge for raising money and hosting Camp Cocoon to support grieving families!

“After 14 years with the PruittHealth Family I finally decided to volunteer at Camp Cocoon. Why did I wait so long? This was such a memorable experience for many and most especially, me. Seeing those amazing kids at different levels of hurt getting a moment of joy and love at a time they needed it most. It was so well organized and incredible to see so many PruittHealth Family members stepping up and pitching in with their own special skills from dawn to dusk, rain or shine! Please consider being a volunteer next year. Don't wait as long as I did -- someone out there needs YOU!” - Camp Cocoon Volunteer Genie Fambrough
