This impressive bronze equestrian statue of George Washington by Daniel Chester French stands in the Place d’Iéna in the 16th arrondissement in Paris. Dedicated on July 3, 1900, the statue was a gift from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The inscription on the statue reads: “Gift of the women of the United States of America in memory of the brotherly help given by France to their fathers in the fight for Independence.”

The image on the right is a postcard depicting the statue during the 4th of July celebration in Paris in 1918.
