Today, we honor Juneteenth — a day that commemorates freedom, resilience and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

As we reflect on this important moment in history, we are reminded of the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

At Hadassah, we recognize the power of education, advocacy, community and human dignity to help build a more equitable future for all.

Today, we honor the generations who fought for freedom, celebrate the progress that has been made, and reaffirm our commitment to a world where every person can thrive.

Our annual fundraiser supporting our Youth Aliyah villages was held Tuesday evening, June 16 at Temple Israel, in Sharon.
The kosher dairy dinner was catered by A Perfect Taste which was delicious and plentiful. The event opened with Judy Gansberg, chapter president, welcoming the sixty attendees. Judy also recognized the National, Region and Chapter dignitaries including SNE President, Sheri Barnett and Immediate Past SNE President, Jody Fredman. Roberta Schneider, President of Hadassah Rhode Island was also in attendance and was asked to recite the motzi before the meal. Our chair of Grassroots Advocacy, Jill Sandberg, led the group in singing Hatikvah and the Star Spangled Banner. Fran Feldman, member of the National Youth Aliyah committee, presented a wonderful video on the villages and provided meaningful updates on what is happening currently in the villages. Author Anita Robboy kept the audience mesmerized with personal stories of her family, their history and their interactions with Chaim Weitzman and Henrietta Szold. Our spirits were nourished with good food, engaging speakers and delightful friendships. Proceeds will be donated to the Youth Aliyah villages to ensure the continuity of enriching programs and comfortable, secure surroundings. Our thanks and appreciation to the dedication of our Philanthropy Vice President Stephanie Gamm for chairing this event with her Co-Vice Presidents, Margo Williams and Tracey Pavao.

Hadassah will always stand up against Jewish and Israeli hate. We know the significant contribution that Israeli doctors and scientists make to the well-being of people around the world. Hadassah researchers and clinicians are compassionate leaders who embody the principle that medicine can serve as a bridge to peace for patients and practitioners of every race, religion and nationality.

"I’m not a woman, I don’t pray and I don’t attend synagogue," writes Hadassah Associate Michael Metzger. "Yet here I am, proudly reading Hadassah Magazine and feeling deeply connected to my Judaism—just as my grandmother had hoped."
