🍁 It’s "Stick Season" in Vermont, and
Halloween weekend is here! 🎃
While spooky festivities, costumes, and adult Halloween parties are popping up across our towns, this time of year can bring unique challenges for adults living with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or navigating recovery.
You don't have to navigate party season alone or off-guard. Having a solid Safety Plan before heading out can make all the difference in keeping your peace of mind and protecting your journey:
🥤 Bring your own favorite mocktail or drink so your cup stays filled.
🚗 Set up a clear exit strategy — drive yourself or have a reliable ride so you can leave whenever you need to.
🤝 Use the buddy system — connect with a sober companion or text a support contact throughout the night.
💛 Remember that "NO" is a complete sentence — or simply opt for sober Halloween activities like pumpkin carving or scary movie nights instead!
Come talk through strategies, build your personal holiday safety plan, or just connect with folks who get it.

⏰ All Recovery Group Today at 12:00 PM
📍 Journey To Recovery
Whatever stage of recovery you’re in, you are welcome here. Stop by, share, and grab a warm cup of coffee before the weekend kicks off. See you at noon! ☕✨

Inspired, refreshed, and connected, that’s how our team feels after the incredible Recovery Partners of Vermont fifth annual conference at Burke Mountain yesterday.

RPV did an incredible job bringing us together.

We were all so extremely lucky to be in the presence of keynote speaker Dr.Allen Berger, author of many books about Emotional Sobriety- which we use as a foundation of our recovery practices at both Journey to Recovery and at Ben's House. In fact, the first Christmas at Ben’s House, one of the residents made the Star of our tree, Dr. Berger’s face!! This work was introduced to us by Divided Sky Foundation, where we work so well together building emotional capacity, depth and resilience, from treatment through recovery.

We brought a few of the residents of Ben’s House with us to the conference so they could listen, learn and meet Dr. Berger, as well as feel the true force of our full recovery community.

Recovery in Vermont big and different and leading the way. We didn’t get pictures (next time!) of so many people on the front line working hard, rebuilding lives, like the magic makers Kevin, Mike and Matt from Valley Vista, ❤️❤️ and Chadd of Serenity House and Vermont Foundation of Recovery, Jenna's Promise, all the Recovery Services Organizations across the state, Dept. of Substance Use and so so so many more. We are working hard and working together. We are thankful to be a part of this.

We have more work to do, but our system is really coming together. We are doing it. We are making change every step of the way from working in schools, to hospitals, primary care, in treatment and wrap around trauma based recovery residences.

What a day. Now, we get to go back to work! ❤️
