Every election year since 2020, Bike Newport reaches out to Aquidneck Island candidates for local and statewide office to ask two questions that help us understand their positions related to bicycle and pedestrian safety and infrastructure improvements. Today. September 4th, 2026, we reached out to the candidates and their responses are already rolling in. We recommend that you bookmark this page and check back for updates.

Our hearts are still full from all of the generosity and FUN! we had this year during the 10-Spot ride.

Mark and Ida Aramli have long supported Bike Newport’s youth education, community programs, and the Big Blue Bike Barn. They also shared their property as 10-Spot hosts, becoming part of the experience that makes the event so special.

Mark believes and promotes that “Biking is a great way to get around Newport.”

10-Spot 2026 is a wrap! The seventh annual version of this iconic full-day affair was a delightful day of sunshine, bikes, music, food, and camaraderie in beautiful places all over Newport - all in support of bicycle education, safe infrastructure, reduced traffic, and equitable transportation options for all ❤️🚲❤️ Thanks for your support!

ACTION ALERT

First, the US Dept. of Transportation erased data that shows bike lanes reduce all crashes and don't cause congestion. Then they asked the United States Senate to defund all bike lanes - and even remove bike lanes from busy roads.

Now, the Senate is considering adding language to the next federal transportation bill to restrict bike lanes. Right now, we need our Senators to hear us clearly: bike lanes save lives, and bicyclists have a right to ride on the roads and get home safely.

Tell Senator's Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse: vote NO on any transportation reauthorization bill that would restrict the ability of federal funding to be used on bike safety projects.
