What did you buy for work—with your own money—that was worth every penny?
The boots? A decent flashlight? The lunch bag that survived years of abuse? 😂

Give us your best purchase. Somebody starting out might appreciate the tip.

A conversation that turns into a friendship. An old partner reconnecting. Someone finding a place where they feel understood.

That’s the community we’re building at FRPSN.

Built by first responders, for first responders—with our families included. We’re proud of this mission and excited about what’s ahead. Thank you for being part of it. ❤️

You used to see each other every shift. Now staying in touch takes a little planning.

When someone retires, changes departments, or has to leave the job, keep inviting them. Breakfast, fishing, a phone call—whatever your friendship has always looked like.
Ask about their life now, too. There’s more to catch up on than what’s happening at work.

“We should get together” is a good start. “Are you free Tuesday?” makes it happen.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re sharing the faces behind FRPSN—and a mission rooted in our own lived experiences.

We’re Deb and Eric. We know that a career spent helping others doesn’t make you immune to needing help yourself. We also know how hard it can be to say, “I’m struggling.”

That’s why this mission is personal. Sometimes the first step is talking to someone who understands the life behind the uniform.

Whether you’re serving, retired, or a family member—you deserve support. You don’t need perfect words, and you don’t have to wait for a crisis.

Your story matters. Together, we can make room for connection, healing, and brighter days ahead.

We know what you do for work. What could you talk about for an hour that has absolutely nothing to do with it?

Fishing? Hunting? Gardening? Old cars? Baking? That project in the garage that’s been “almost finished” since 2022? 😂

There’s more to this crowd than job titles. Tell us what you’re into—you might find somebody here who shares it.

A day off can turn into a second shift pretty quickly: errands, appointments, favors, and “Since you’re home, could you…?”

Sometimes those things need doing. Sometimes the answer can be, “I can help another day.”

You’re allowed to leave a little space on your calendar for yourself. Every free hour doesn’t have to become an available hour.

Some drives call for silence. Others require a song loud enough for a full concert behind the steering wheel. 😂

What’s the song you turn up on the way to work—or heading home?
Give us the title and artist. Let’s see what this crowd is listening to.

“I don’t even know what I’d say.”
That’s okay. You don’t need a rehearsed explanation to call us. “It’s been a rough few days” is enough to start.

FRPSN offers confidential peer support for first responders and their families, including those navigating retirement or leaving the job.

You don’t have to hit your limit to reach out.

In a first responder family, “Sunday dinner” might happen on Tuesday. Birthdays get moved, holiday meals get reheated, and somebody always asks, “Are you working that day?”

To the families and friends who keep making room for us—thank you. We see the planning, the adjusting, and the times you wish we could be there.

What tradition has your family made its own around the schedule?
