On Belay

On Belay On Belay provides free adventure-based programs that build community & resilience among youth ages 8-18 who are impacted by a loved one's cancer diagnosis.

Through the support of being “On Belay,” participants learn to support others and to ask for help- giving them the confidence to overcome the challenge of their family’s illness and the freedom to focus on themselves. On Belay offers programs throughout the year in Southern New Hampshire, Southern Maine and the North Shore of Massachusetts, with participants coming from towns all over New England.

Every program offers an opportunity to play games and have fun while learning to climb and to belay, - all within a supportive and caring environment. Each program offers something unique, whether this is the first program you have attended, or you have been a part of the On Belay community for years. Our community is made up of youth at all stages of their family’s illness, whether in treatment, remission, or having lost someone. While we don’t offer traditional therapy or spend time talking about cancer, many participants find our programs a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings with the group or other individuals

What's Up Wednesday!!?? We will tell ya! Our On Belay youth are catching some epic waves in Hampton today with Cinnamon Rainbows AND our Pickleball FUNdraiser keeps getting better by the day! We've got fantastic raffles and prizes thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and local businesses! What are they you ask? We will tell ya! It's "What's Up Wednesday" after all! 🚨Trip Recap Time! 🚨

🌄One week ago we wrapped up our 2026 Teen Summit Adventure and this one was a doozy. In just three days, these incredible kids covered 15+ miles with approximately 5,500 ft. of elevation gain/loss 🤯 We are so proud of our On Belay participants for taking on this challenge and working together to create a positive and meaningful experience for one another. Also HUGE HUGE HUGE shoutout to AMC New Hampshire educators Toni and Chris for keeping us safe and keeping the vibes high 🙏🏼

One week later, and we can't stop thinking about how epic our Basecamp 2026 trip was! We had great weather and even better guides thanks to the wonderful people at the AMC Highland Center and Outdoor New England. We got to climb Mt. Willard, learn about nocturnal animal echolocation, raft on the Winnipesaukee River, and have an all-around grand time in the White Mountains. See you there, same time next year!
