Through the support of being “On Belay,” participants learn to support others and to ask for help- giving them the confidence to overcome the challenge of their family’s illness and the freedom to focus on themselves. On Belay offers programs throughout the year in Southern New Hampshire, Southern Maine and the North Shore of Massachusetts, with participants coming from towns all over New England.
Every program offers an opportunity to play games and have fun while learning to climb and to belay, - all within a supportive and caring environment. Each program offers something unique, whether this is the first program you have attended, or you have been a part of the On Belay community for years. Our community is made up of youth at all stages of their family’s illness, whether in treatment, remission, or having lost someone. While we don’t offer traditional therapy or spend time talking about cancer, many participants find our programs a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings with the group or other individuals
