On Belay provides free adventure-based programs that build community & resilience among youth ages 8-18 who are impacted by a loved one's cancer diagnosis.

Through the support of being “On Belay,” participants learn to support others and to ask for help- giving them the confidence to overcome the challenge of their family’s illness and the freedom to focus on themselves. On Belay offers programs throughout the year in Southern New Hampshire, Southern Maine and the North Shore of Massachusetts, with participants coming from towns all over New England. Every program offers an opportunity to play games and have fun while learning to climb and to belay, - all within a supportive and caring environment. Each program offers something unique, whether this is the first program you have attended, or you have been a part of the On Belay community for years. Our community is made up of youth at all stages of their family’s illness, whether in treatment, remission, or having lost someone. While we don’t offer traditional therapy or spend time talking about cancer, many participants find our programs a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings with the group or other individuals

Program Recap Time!

We had such a great adventure up in Portland, Maine last weekend with Rippleffect. Our stellar guides, Maggie and Erin, showed us around Casco Bay and Cow Island, where we got to zipline, sea-kayak, explore old WWII tunnels, admire all the sea life in the nearby tidepools, and play lots of games of "Where's my chicken!" We are so grateful for the perfect weather, the opportunities to explore, and the chance to spend time with our friends. We're already thinking about how to make it even better next year!

🚨Summer Surf Day Recap🚨

🏄‍♀️ We had such an awesome surf session last week with Cinnamon Rainbows Surf Shop in Hampton, NH! The weather was stunning, the water was refreshing, and the waves were just right 🌊 Each of us got the chance to catch and ride some waves thanks to the support and guidance from our wonderful instructors! The stoke was high all afternoon and we will definitely be back 🏄‍♂️ A huge thank you to Salisbury Beach Photography who captured some epic shots!

🚨Trip Recap Time! 🚨

🌄One week ago we wrapped up our 2026 Teen Summit Adventure and this one was a doozy. In just three days, these incredible kids covered 15+ miles with approximately 5,500 ft. of elevation gain/loss 🤯 We are so proud of our On Belay participants for taking on this challenge and working together to create a positive and meaningful experience for one another. Also HUGE HUGE HUGE shoutout to AMC New Hampshire educators Toni and Chris for keeping us safe and keeping the vibes high 🙏🏼
