Yesterday’s Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Veterans Appreciation Luncheon, Presented by The Chickasaw Nation was a truly special day for our Hometown Heroes.
We were honored to host 26 incredible veterans along with some of their spouses and family members, including a 102-year-old WWII veteran, Mr. Lonnie Davoult. During the luncheon, Jonathan Wilk- Wilk for State House HD 20 presented Mr. Davoult with an Oklahoma Legislative Citation of Honor and Recognition from the State of Oklahoma, Kendal Sacchieri for Oklahoma State Senate, and Jonathan Wilk for his faithful service to our country — a moment we will never forget.
Each veteran was recognized through a special slideshow highlighting their service and accomplishments. It was a privilege to celebrate these heroes who have given so much for our country and our freedom.
We were also honored to hear from Hometown Hero, Major General Gregory L. Ferguson, whose words and heartfelt message reminded us all of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who have served our country. His presence made the day even more meaningful for everyone in attendance.
Our veterans enjoyed a wonderful lunch catered by Creek Bottom Burgers & BBQ and delicious desserts from Dakotas Restaurant and gifts provided by the Newcastle Chamber and our wonderful sponsors; The Chickasaw Nation, CarWorx Collision -Newcastle, Jonathan Wilk-State House Rep, Legend Assisted Living, Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, OEC Fiber, Oklahoma Natural Gas, Pioneer Telephone Coop - Newcastle, Republic Services, Tinker Federal Credit Union, The First National Bank & Trust

We are so grateful to our sponsors, Newcastle, OK Parks & Recreation crew and Chamber Ambassadors- Abe Guardado, Michael Edmonds, Jayna Westmoreland Kinnamon, Robin Fielder, Stephanie Branscum, Alicia Anthony, and Jessica, for helping set up and the chamber members who came to show their appreciation in honoring not only the veterans who could attend, but also those who are no longer with us.
A special thank you to Mr. Alan Davenport for helping us organize this special luncheon. He put in many hours contacting veterans and gathering their information for the slide show and to our amazing assistant, Madalyn Heathco for all the countless details, hard work, and heart she puts into helping us make events like this possible.
To all veterans — thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and service. Your legacy continues to inspire generations.
