May 16, 2026 - Fresno, California
Around 6:30pm an Officer was shot and wounded during an attempted arrest for a domestic violence disturbance near East Garrett Avenue and South Clara Avenue. The suspect stole the Officers vehicle and was later located after a prolonged standoff.

The Officer was shot multiple times in the arm and upper body, but was safely transported to Community Regional Medical Center.

We hope this quilt provides comfort while he recovers.

Santa Barbara Police Department

May 8, 2026 - Santa Barbara, California
Around 10am an Officer approached a suspect on South La Cumbre Road, near O’Reilly Auto Parts. A chaotic scene then unfolded when the suspect fired a weapon at the Officer, striking her in the head with what was later determined to be a .177 caliber BB from an air gun.

The Officer was taken to Cottage Hospital, and released later that day.

We have sent this quilt to let her know we care.

Indiana State Police

May 26, 2026 - Hammond, Indiana
A State K9 trooper initiated a routine traffic stop for a minor violation just after midnight.
He then had to call for back-up when the driver became non-compliant.

During the stop, the driver pulled out a handgun and fired at them, striking the Trooper in the chest.

The Trooper, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, survived the gunshot, but underwent surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and is now at home recovering.

We have sent this quilt to let him know we care and we sent a quilt to his K9 partner who was not injured but we felt needed some comfort too!

April 28, 2026 - Fort Worth, Texas
An incident occurred around 11:30am in the 3500 block of Juliet Lane, near North Riverside Drive and Basswood Boulevard. While assisting a homeowner with a police report, a suspect opened fire from across the street without warning at the Officer.

He was shot in the eye by shrapnel from a pellet rifle. He was then taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment.

We have sent this quilt to let him know we care.

Greensville County Sheriff’s Department

May 14, 2026 - Emporia, Virginia
Around 5am Deputies responded to a home on Fiddlers Road for a domestic incident. The suspect had left but returned to the scene after Deputies arrived.

He then exchanged gunfire with them using a handgun before entering the home. Deputies then proceeded inside the home after hearing a gunshot and found him deceased.

The injured Deputy was taken to the hospital after the incident and is in stable condition.

We have sent this quilt to let him know we care.

McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department

May 14, 2026 - Kulm , North Dakota
Just before 8am an incident began when a concerned person called 911 making irrational statements. The Sheriff and a Deputy responded and found the person near his broken-down car. They helped get the vehicle running and began driving it toward Kulm, with the Deputy driving the car and the person of interest in the passenger seat, while the Sheriff led in his marked patrol unit.

The car broke down a second time on County Road 33. As the Deputy and the suspect looked under the hood, the suspect grabbed a black iron tire jack and struck the Deputy in the head. He then pulled the Deputy’s firearm from his holster and fired an unknown number of rounds toward both the Deputy and Sheriff.

The Sheriff suffered a fragment wound to his left hand during the exchange of gunfire. Both he and the Deputy were taken to regional clinics for medical care.

May 27, 2026 - Mountain Home, Idaho
Around 7pm a fast moving brush fire caused by high winds sparked when two high power lines that touched during a wind storm arced. Emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Smith Road and Hamilton Road in Elmore County. The brush fire burned an estimated 300 acres before it was contained. About 15 homes were lost which displaced several families.

Officials during a press conference said five law enforcement personnel were injured of which one person spent multiple days in the hospital because he was trapped when the wind caused the fire to shift suddenly.

A local QFC volunteer delivered these quilts to these departments. We hope they provided comfort while they continue to recover.

The Power of Our Quilts

We may never know anything after we send a quilt off but know you are all making a difference by providing comfort to our injured First Responders! 💙❤️

These words are from a QFC volunteer:

I went to lunch today with a couple of old high school friends and the nicest thing happened.

My friend’s son-in-law is with the Sheriff's Office. I had made a quilt for the Officer who was shot in the arm earlier this year. The injured officer was the son-in-law's shift partner and was there during the incident. He actually applied the tourniquet at the scene.

My friend met the Officer recently and asked him about receiving the quilt from QFC. She said he lit up. She told him a friend of hers made it. The Officer told her to let me know that was a very dark time in his life and getting the quilt really helped him with that. He loves the quilt and wanted me to know how much it meant to him.

Thank you for letting me be a part of this wonderful organization. I think you are doing the Lord's work. It amazes me over and over again how much difference a simple quilt can make to someone in a rough situation. I love being a part of Quilts for Cops.
