Farm parents take safety incredibly seriously. We usually are more aware of risks than suburban folks. Our kids truly learn why it's so important to focus, plan and problems solve. Those aren't hollow words to them, and they appreciate being allowed to work at meaningful and productive tasks. We believe in setting this foundation in our camps by teaching problem-solving and life skills.   As both a teacher and a mom, I'm very proud of the kids this farm has grown.

💓 As I pulled in, enjoying the beautiful evening, I was greeted by a different face on the fence line! These two usuals were right with 'em, but it looked like I had extra mouths to feed. Everybody looked like one big happy family, which shouldn't have surprised me because earlier when I was both mowing and teaching I kept seeing sweet fawns nearby!

This past week working with all these great kids left me greatly encouraged about the next generation of animal advocates. Both the kids at camp and the ones showing their dogs at the 4-H fair worked hard to master new skills and showed true grit and determination as well as patience and compassion. I was so proud of each of them and look forward to seeing where they put these attributes to use next.

We were delighted to be able to offer these fabulous kids an opportunity to visit a farm and learn about all the animals. They said their grandparents had been farmers and they were eager to gain more understanding about growing food and managing livestock. Hopefully they will be back to join our program as volunteers.  It was a pleasure having them and it's our mission to create more educated advocates for animals and nature!
