WAFFLES was a gentle, loving senior who had suffered horrific abuse and neglect at the hands of humans throughout his lifetime, but chose to live each day to the fullest and loved everyone he met. Knowing that his time was limited, WAFFLES was adopted by the President of Passion 4 Paws and a Bucket List of adventures was created so he could "live a lifetime" in whatever amount of time he had left,
starting with a loving forever home and a large group of friends and family to shower him with love and affection. WAFFLES ended up living for 10 months in his forever home. When WAFFLES passed away he left his beloved page in the capable paws of his canine brother NEVILLE, who taught WAFFLES all about animal rescue and how to be a good Canine Foster Daddy. NEVILLE carried the Waffles' Bucket List baton until October 26, 2020, and when he passed, bequeathing narration of the page to his young protege MR PICKLES, a tenacious special needs cat that WAFFLES sent to his mom as a distraction after he passed away. “PICKY" assumed the role and won over the hearts of everyone with his grumpy little growls, whack-a-doos and chomp chomps. PICKY passed away unexpectedly in October 2, 2022 leaving all of us devastated. After intense family debate, the reigns have been passed to SCOOTER, a Passion 4 Paws dog with some major trust issues who, in the words of her foster mom, “is going nowhere fast”. SCOOTER doesn’t actually care if she gets adopted - she’s perfectly happy living where she’s at. She acknowledges that she needs some personal development and has already made significant end roads. She also realizes (because we keep reminding her) that in any other rescue she very well could have been euthanized, so she is determined to become the best version of herself that she can become, and along the way help other dogs and cats find their forever homes. If down the road she also gets adopted, then that would be a very exciting moment. But until then, we are keeping her safe and very much loved. This page aims to bring attention to the fact the thousands of dogs and cats (seniors, special needs, with behavioral issues, and sometimes just for space) die each day in shelters across the US. Many of the senior animals are perfectly healthy and have many years of life left to live. But because most people choose to adopt puppies & kittens, seniors are often passed by and overlooked. Seniors like WAFFLES and NEVILLE and special needs animals like MR PICKLES hold a special place in our hearts and we hope this page and the stories of WAFFLES, NEVILLE & PICKLES inspires you to adopt a senior or special needs pet and establish his or her own bucket list of adventures. As for SCOOTER, her story is all about personal growth, but also about being loved and accepted for who you are. Welcome to her journey. Buckle up. It may be a bump ride.
