Waffles' Bucket List

Waffles' Bucket List Waffles' Bucket List, hosted by SCOOTER GRACE! A dog named WAFFLES with an inoperable tumor was saved from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in June 2017.

WAFFLES was a gentle, loving senior who had suffered horrific abuse and neglect at the hands of humans throughout his lifetime, but chose to live each day to the fullest and loved everyone he met. Knowing that his time was limited, WAFFLES was adopted by the President of Passion 4 Paws and a Bucket List of adventures was created so he could "live a lifetime" in whatever amount of time he had left,

starting with a loving forever home and a large group of friends and family to shower him with love and affection. WAFFLES ended up living for 10 months in his forever home. When WAFFLES passed away he left his beloved page in the capable paws of his canine brother NEVILLE, who taught WAFFLES all about animal rescue and how to be a good Canine Foster Daddy. NEVILLE carried the Waffles' Bucket List baton until October 26, 2020, and when he passed, bequeathing narration of the page to his young protege MR PICKLES, a tenacious special needs cat that WAFFLES sent to his mom as a distraction after he passed away. “PICKY" assumed the role and won over the hearts of everyone with his grumpy little growls, whack-a-doos and chomp chomps. PICKY passed away unexpectedly in October 2, 2022 leaving all of us devastated. After intense family debate, the reigns have been passed to SCOOTER, a Passion 4 Paws dog with some major trust issues who, in the words of her foster mom, “is going nowhere fast”. SCOOTER doesn’t actually care if she gets adopted - she’s perfectly happy living where she’s at. She acknowledges that she needs some personal development and has already made significant end roads. She also realizes (because we keep reminding her) that in any other rescue she very well could have been euthanized, so she is determined to become the best version of herself that she can become, and along the way help other dogs and cats find their forever homes. If down the road she also gets adopted, then that would be a very exciting moment. But until then, we are keeping her safe and very much loved. This page aims to bring attention to the fact the thousands of dogs and cats (seniors, special needs, with behavioral issues, and sometimes just for space) die each day in shelters across the US. Many of the senior animals are perfectly healthy and have many years of life left to live. But because most people choose to adopt puppies & kittens, seniors are often passed by and overlooked. Seniors like WAFFLES and NEVILLE and special needs animals like MR PICKLES hold a special place in our hearts and we hope this page and the stories of WAFFLES, NEVILLE & PICKLES inspires you to adopt a senior or special needs pet and establish his or her own bucket list of adventures. As for SCOOTER, her story is all about personal growth, but also about being loved and accepted for who you are. Welcome to her journey. Buckle up. It may be a bump ride.

My Grammy brought me some skinny Chewy’s last week when she came to visit. They only last a few minutes, but I like them a lot! Cuz Grammy gave them to me.

PLEASE SHARE RENI! She needs a special family to help her heal.

Reni visited Embrace Animal Hospital today for an exam and bloodwork. While we're happy to report that she did very well, we learned that she weighs just 6 pounds, which is approximately half of what her ideal weight should be.

Because she is significantly underweight, Dr. Dana has recommended postponing her vaccines for about four weeks while we focus on helping her gain weight and build up her strength. If you ask Reni, she thinks this treatment plan sounds pretty fantastic!

Based on her exam, Dr. Dana estimates that Reni is only 7 to 9 months old, so she's still very much a puppy.

We would love to find a medical foster-to-adopt home for Reni. She needs a family willing to help her continue her journey to good health while showing her what it's like to be a cherished member of a family. A secure fenced yard with another playful dog or cat and/or children would be a bonus. (No electric fences please. She’s too small and they are considered secure.)

Reni is a sweet, energetic young pup who would thrive in an active home where she can play, learn, and burn off some of that puppy energy. She is good with both dogs and cats, rides beautifully in the car, and is making great progress with her potty training.

At bedtime, Reni's favorite place is snuggled under the covers right next to her person. She eats every meal like she's afraid it might be her last, so a slow feeder is a must while she learns that food will always be there for her.

Most importantly, Reni is absolutely precious and seems to win over everyone she meets. She has a way of stealing hearts wherever she goes.

If you're interested in helping Reni gain the weight, confidence, and love she deserves while potentially becoming her forever family, please apply at www.passion4paws.org/adopt.

PLEASE SHARE SPAZ, HANK & STORMY! These 3 cats are hoping for a miracle. They are a bonded trio and so we are looking for a special someone who will adopt them together so they don't have to be split up.

PLEASE SHARE! Miracle do happen.

CALLING ALL ANGELS! We need your help.

There is some MAJOR DRAMA unfolding at our foster Dina's house right now, and we're hoping the universe can help us find one very special family willing to adopt these three boys together.

Back in February, we took in a family of cats after their owners became homeless. Their people refused to enter a shelter because they had nowhere for their cats to go, so they were living on the streets with their cats in a shopping cart and sneaking them into the library just to stay warm. With snow falling and temperatures freezing, we stepped in so the cats would be safe and their people could finally get indoors.

The family included MAMA GRACIE, her sons SPAZ and HANK (aka HENRY), HANK'S siblings LILLY and RIVER, and STORMY, who isn't related but grew up alongside the others.

Over the past few months, the cats were split between our sanctuary and foster care. HANK moved into Dina's house with LILLY and RIVER, who have since been adopted, while SPAZ and STORMY remained together at the shelter with Mama GRACIE.

Yesterday, SPAZ & STORMY moved into Dina's house.

What happened next caught us completely off guard.

HANK walked into the room, sniffed SPAZ'S carrier, and instantly knew who was inside. Within seconds of the carrier door opening, the two boys were off playing together as if they had never spent a day apart. Months had passed, but their friendship hadn't missed a beat.

And STORMY?

Poor STORMY retreated under the bed, watching the reunion unfold. He and SPAZ have always been close. STORMY is the quieter one, the handsome Maine C**n lookalike who takes his cues from his best friend. Wherever SPAZ goes, STORMY is usually not too far behind.

So now we're in a bit of a predicament.

It's obvious that HANK & SPAZ belong together. But it doesn't feel right to separate STORMY from SPAZ.

We know how difficult it is to find a home for one cat these days, let alone three. But we're going to put this out into the universe anyway...

Is there anyone out there willing to open their heart and home to HANK, SPAZ, and STORMY as a bonded trio?

These boys are young, hilarious, endlessly entertaining, and full of personality. If you adopt them, your house will never be boring again.

SPAZ & STORMY were born approximately 04/03/2025. HANK is just a little younger, born 09/30/2025.

All three are neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, dewormed, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

If you can make room in your heart for these boys, please visit passion4paws.org/adopt and submit an online application to adopt a cat.

And if you can't adopt, please SHARE this story. Their miracle family might be on your friends list.

They are being fostered in Southbury, CT and they are ready to go.
